I have been reading a lot about who we should draft and who we shouldnt,
but I think everyone who reads scouting publications can make a valid claim to why we should draft anyone they feel is justified for the number
one pick.

I would like to share with you my opinion and I do mean OPINION why we just cant pass on Dorsey.

1. I would have to point out what is our biggest need, looking back on the season nothing stuck out from the beginning to the end of the season as much as our run defense, it was the worst that I have seen as a fan of the Miami Dolfins. Some of the older Dolfins fans would have to agree, we are not going nowhere without some kind of run defense and pass rush, and who coming out of college now would give us the most impact in both those areas. If you do a objective evaluation of all the prospects, there would be one name that will allways be at the top Glenn Dorsey!
Dorsey is a dominator and would give Taylor, Holiday, Porter and Crowder more chances to be effective because of the double teams he would command and that alone would be the biggest impact.

There isnt no one that we could draft in this draft that offers more value to our defense than a unstoppable def.lineman, we can debate on all the other such as Chris Long and Jake Long both are going to be good football players but Dorsey has the chance to be special and thats what we need to get us to the next level special players.

2. This year the draft is pretty deep in def. ends that can offer close to the same impact as Chris Long, here is a list of good but not great ends that can be still available in the second thru fourth,

1. Chris Ellis Virginia Tech.
2. Quentin Groves Auburn
3. Lawrence Jackson USC
4. Tommy Blake TCU
5. Bruce Davis UCLA
6. Wallace Gilberry

many of those guys would fit well in the 4-3 as def. ends and 3-4 as outside linebackers.

3. Last of all we can draft a very good left OT in the the 2nd round. here is a list of some of the best that might be around,

1. Sam Baker USC
2. Chris Williams Vanderbilt
3. Tony Hills Texas
4. Anthony Collins Kansas

those are a few that can make a decent impact for us if we go o-line in the second round.
I pretty much know that I am going to get crushed for what I feel would be good for our draft but I dont care b/c in the end it doesnt matter whoever we pick I will wish him well and hope the best.

Dorsey isn't built to endure a 16 game season , during a minimum 5-6 year career, at NT in a 3-4 in the NFL. Forget about it. He doesn't have the frame to survive down there. Think more of a Red Bryant in the second round or Dre Moore. Dorsey will gladly help our pass rush since he's a machine in that department. But in the run, any team will be easily capable of "scooping" him and going to the LB (for those familiar with blocking schemes...) . Dorsey won't require as much attention as Wilfork or Keith Traylor(amongst others..) therefore our LBs will be in much more trouble. Dorsey is an outstanding 4-3 DT but there is a LOT of question marks for him playing NT

I agree mate. I think Dorsey is a must for the Dolphins. I still think we may be a 43 defence, & thats why Dorsey is a must get. Our defence was terrible last year and help with the interior linemen is needed. The draft is pretty deep for D & O linemen this year.

I agree that our O line needs help that can be addressed in the second round. Sam Baker, Gosder Cherilus, Nicks, may still be available come our second pick - Baker may be the only certain 1st rounder of these guys, but I feel that the O line can be addressed with the 2nd round pick.

At 6´1/2 and 316 pounds he is not built to endure 16 games? where did you get that from? What publication or expert opinion please with link b/c thats new to me.

I think it's a known fact that a lot of rookies start to wear down after 14 games. Certainly those on the O & D lines. I think Dorsey is big enough.

I hope we trade down and get more picks, because we need more than just Glenn, or Matt, or Jake, or Chris, we need a bunch of them. That #1 pick could get us as much as 4 more bodies in the 1st 2 rounds and maybe more.

People like Dan Conner, Calais Campbell, Donnie Avery, Dre Moore, Branden Albert, Carl Nicks, Jeremy Lehman. To top that off, all for the same price as that # 1 guy, and maybe cheaper.

the same guys who argue dorsey isn't big enough to play NT, are the ones lobbying for chris long to get drafted, who ironically isn't big enough to play DE in a 3-4.

I think it's a long, but his first name is jake.
if not, than I have idea who the FO is targeting.

just heard on sirius nfl that dorsey has a stress fracture in his tibia and that it's located in a spot that will be difficult to heal. just my opinion - a dream scenario starts with signing flozell adams. then you go chris long or sedrick ellis. without adams, jake long is definitely part of the conversation.

Yes we can, a DT or NT's main job is to take on as many defenders as they can and open up a hole for the linebackers, to me a guy that can do that is not worth the #1 pick and can be found in later rounds. At number 1 i want a guys who can make the tackle, force a fumble, get a sack, make and interception and just flat out be a playmaker, not someone who won't even sniff the ball the majority of the game..

And when you dont have a dominating def-tackle taking on many blockers you wont have holes opening for the linebackers and your def-ends can be double teamed!

Are you sure they said Dorsey?

He doesn't need to be dominating and who knows if Dorsey will even be dominating with his chronic back and knee problems, yea not good for a guy in his early 20's... We can find somebody with maybe not as much potential as Dorsey has but can still get the job done.
