This game could've went either way if a couple of plays could've went one way or the other, but that doesn't matter anymore. We were in the game till the end, but there was one aspect of the game that did not get any better as the game went on; and that was our run blocking.

The Jets defensive front seven punched our offensive line right in the mouth. There were no holes consistently opened for Ronnie to run through, and Frerotte had minimum time to throw the ball. I can't believe how many people are trying to blame this game on one person. Some say it was Ronnie Brown  , some others say it was Frerotte  , others are blaming Chambers :o . There are seven people you can blame this loss on. They are Vernon Carey, Rex Hadnot, Seth McKinney, Jeno James, Damion McIntosh, Stockar McDougal, and Randy McMichael. Yes, I said McMichael; I'm not talking about what he did from a receiving standpoint. I'm talking about his blocking. When McMichael stayed in to block, Abraham ate both McMichael and our offensive tackles for lunch. All seven on these guys failed miserably at blocking. A physical defensive line will beat us every time.

There was a guy on this board last week, who was talking about the lack of talent on this line as far as run blocking and now I have to agree with him. It takes a special talent to move people, and our o-lineman lack the talent to do this consistently. I think Houck is doing a hellva job with the hand he is dealt, but these guys cannot move people consistenly as a group. We have a few good linemen, but they are not there as a group yet. We are two linemen short of having a very good offensive line (Left Tackle and Center).

Run blocking is the only thing that is holding this team back right now.

I agree 100%. And this is what happens when you don't draft any linemen higher than the 3rd round in 5 years (before Carey) and the linemen you DID draft in the 3rd (Smith and Whitley) are nowhere to be found. If Jamar Fletcher and Eddie Moore had been O linemen, we'd be seeing a different team out there.

I also disagree. The line played good enough to win. Frerotte had enough time to make some good passes and Ronnie Brown did have some holes that he did miss.

The loss was because the team loss. No part is really more to blame than the other. If any part of the team actually stepped up it would of totally increased the chance of Miami to win the game.

The guard-center-guard triangle did a respectable job. I fully expect the DT from Kentucky to own the middle of the line. He didn't, it was the tackles that were the holes.

Definitely a work-in-progress.

do they not have two probowl defensive ends?

I disagree... too many penalties... dropped passes lost us the game.

Which penalties are you referring too? The holding by McKinney, the holding by Hadnot, the offsides by our offensive lineman???? We did nothing up front to establish a running game. Excluding the opening drive, we were stuck in 3rd and long the whole first half. How many first downs did we have the whole first half after the opening drive? We only had 1 first down after that drive. That is unacceptable. It all starts up front, and we never got things started in that game. If you think 2.4 yards a carry is ok, well I have news for you; it's not. We won't win any games if we don't establish a balanced attack. Frerotte had minimum, not ample time to pass the ball. I'm not knocking the pass offense, it's the run defense I have a problem with. Maybe; just maybe Ronnie miss a few holes, that's expected, he's a rookie; but there were a lot of times he had no place to run. Everyone knows we can't run the ball, and it's becasue our offensive line gets punked by a very physical defensive line.

It was not one players or one units fault. The OL didn't drop all those passes.

Exactly. The OL played bad enough to not allow us to score 41 points!! They did, however, provide enough for us to march down the field for a missed FG. They also allowed us to move into Jets territory a few times. Penalties and dropped passes along with the defense allow Chad to pick apart the secondary is why we lost.

If that's the case then this week against Carolina is going to be ugly.

The OL doesn't push anybody around and they don't roadgrade for anybody. Our line hasn't dominated an opposing line in nearly 3 years.

Did you watch last weeks game?

If you say yes explain your comments please.

I'm not hanging this whole loss on the OL, but I think what you saw is the strongest possible argument why this team cannot consider QB in the first round next year if there are franchise quality left tackles still out there when the team picks. I think the value is definitely there with left tackles, and the need will also definitely be there.
