Michael Ola, I went back and looked at his film from Canada...since a lot of the players there, lately have been making a impact, especially Wake for us, I decided to look closer at who we had in house... Plus Miami gave this guy a signing bonus.
The only other player we got from Canada with a signing bonus that I can remember was Wake. He actually cost us in cap if we release him.. This maybe why we're willing to sit back and see if we can get a great deal at FA RT's or Guards, we can always kick this guy inside.

Player----------- Pos.--Base Salary----- Signing Bonus--- Other Bonus----- Dead Money---- Cap Figure

Michael Ola ----- T---- 420,000----------1,666------ ------------------------- (5,000)---------- 421,666

That's like cutting a low draft pick in real dollars..but pickups usually don't get signing bonus..

His film from Canada, where he started for the Montreal Alouettes.

OLA? R U SERIOUS?

We can do better!!!!

In CFL football the D lineman is 1 full yard off the ball - OLA will get destroyed in the NFL and is back in the CFL in the Spring... Count on it!~

The biggest DE Ola faced in the CFL was likely 260-265 lbs at the start of the sesaon, and by seasons end they are lighter, they do a lot of running in the CFL

Asa matter of refrence -> It used to take 2 Olas and a back chipping - to stop Cam Wake....

Would be sweet if he could pan out and have a good career. Remember Mark Dixon I think we got him from Canada and he was playing the best guard in the league for awhile until injuries and the move to LT due to lack of a good LT.

Dixon had great feet

Ola a starter.....NO! but it's probably one of our better reserve options

a couple of things I noticed from the tape but not in-depth analysis are...

1. he has a tell on his moves. He shifts his weight to the power step side, i.e. on Kick Slides he over compensates his weight to his left side to get the jump on the outside, same with run plans, although when he goes left, it's a little more balanced, but still noticeable.

this is correctable with the right coaching, but for me the main point is

2. He's a waist bender - and lacks control and over reaches.

So for me right now - yeah sure, his athleticism is worth a look as a development prospect but id be nervous if he would be considered as a challenger for a playing spot this year.

Get him in the fold and coach him up.

Funny how everybody already knows what he'll do.

You may be right, but I think I've thought that about a number of players who's fooled me. I didn't think C. Wake would be as good as he is..but?????
