The title is self explanatory. I really don't care very much about his past indiscretions with Philly and San Francisco. He wasn't exactly a model citizen in Dallas, but he didn't cause a stir, and he did not do anything to deserve his outright release.
T.O. was very productive last year, and the only reason why he was not dominant is because he had to deal with crappy Brad Johnson for half of the season. Whether or not he has lost a step over the course of the off season remains to be seen, but he certainly was not slowed down last year as he did not show his age at all. So even if he is physically lesser than he was last year, it definitely will not be a precipitous drop.
T.O. is 35, but it's a safe bet that the guy takes care of his body about as well as any human being to have ever existed, and his work ethic is unrivaled. I would not be surprised if T.O. is a very productive receiver at the age of 38.
But we didn't have to sign him until he was 38. I'm sure he would have preferred Miami to Buffalo, and they only gave him an incentive laden contract with a base of 5 mil for 1 year. That's a bargain.
At that price, we would have gotten a bona fide dominant true #1 receiver that is a veteran and an absolute well rounded yards/touchdowns machine.
T.O. never causes problems in year one, and that's all we had to obligate ourselves to him for, one year. For a team that is one big receiver short of having a dominant offense, I think we screwed up by not bringing him in.

And plus, we like to spread the ball around, A LOT. How do you think that would have fared with T.O.? Not well at all.. you know the guy starts yapping when he doesn't get the ball. That's exactly what would happen here.

Take your pick:

I think T.O would prefer any place over Buffalo (everyone in their right mind would, that town sucks) but him ending up with the Bills goes to show that no other team really cared to go after him. Hell, Buffalo isn't even a contender so he basically just went wherever they would take him.

While I personally think Terrell Owens still has a lot of good football left in him, I don't think he would have been a good fit with our offense and our front office. On top of that, even if he puts up another Pro Bowl season in Buffalo he's not going to sign there long term because a better (and richer) team will make an offer he can't refuse in the offseason.

Well, the first time Ted Ginn drops a ball or fumbles a handoff or Camarillo shows the inability to get open because his knee doesn't work, don't wine about how we don't get enough production from our receivers because there was a great one available for the taking. Watch TO tear it up for Buffalo this year without making any commotion too, you won't be so smug to me then.
I'd really like to know where this idea comes from that we don't need help at receiver. We have a bunch of guys that are half decent and two rookies. We really don't have anything to write home about. I like Davone Bess in the slot a lot, but that's really the only thing I like about our receiver corps.
Ginns a one trick pony, Camarillo is reliable but not big or explosive, Davone Bess is a good slot receiver but that's it, and all of you people that are obsessed with Brandon London are morons. We need a well rounded receiver, we don't have one.

even the team that did sign him admitted that they signed him more for the spectical than for on the field production....the football minds that run the Miami Dolphins know that they don't need a side show clown to be relevant.

did you win 2 superbowls? did you turn around franchises such as the dallas cowboys and the new york jets in quick time? are you known as one of the greatest football minds the league has ever known? did you take a 1-15 team and turn them into a 11-5 division winner in one year? the answer is NO you didnt

Ginn will not drop as many balls as TO....count on it.

TO always tore it up (with a lot more talent than he has now in Buffalo) and how did that ever help a team win anything?? even his best year team-wise in Philly....they got over the hump (won the NFC Championship in their 4th try) WITHOUT Owens......then lost the SB his first game back (TO participated in ZERO post-season wins).
