Rodney Bailey- DE from the New England Patriots

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235017

He is 6'3, 305!! (How is that for size, Nick?)
He is still young, only 26, but has 3 years experience on a very good defense in Pittsburgh. Billy B offered him a big contrast a restricted FA last year, so he obviously thought highly of him, and as much as I hate that organization, you cant deny his ability to bring in quality players. With that said, I think he would be an ideal addition (he seems big enough to play DT as well).

What you think?

This isn't so much an attack on this guy or you, but all these guys get cut for a reason. Yes, they all have talent or they wouldn't have been in the NFL, but we're going to sign them at what expense? Every guy we sign means we have to cut another somewhere down the line.

The Pats have one of the deepest Dlines in the league, while we have probably one of the thinest (as far as young talent goes)

305# DE? Not your typical pass rusher. Sure he is not a DT? And size matters, but Dario Romero and other lards we had couldnt come in and sub for Bowens/Gardner/Chester the last few years.

Too bad theres no centers out there that can come in and give seth some competition, if theyre were im sure saban wouldve claimed him already

If we sign Bailey, whom do we cut? Our 4 DEs now are Taylor, Carter, Roth and Bowens.
I guess we could cut one of the marginal corners we kept, Edwards or Richard. But going with only 4 corners is risky, imo.

Zgonina. But I guess at this point he would but cut for McGill.. In that case maybe Shaw?

Name them. Is it quality depth?

Jarvis Green
Marquise Hill
Dan Klecko
Richard Seymour
Ty Warren
Vince Wilfork

Not too shabby.

The guy might be awesome i dont know but i have a hard time with the fact that he has been cut by BB and Saban is alot like BB.

Well of course they are cut for a reason. Sometimes that reason however, is b/c the team is loaded at that postion. We cut Gordon who can play in this league, Philly cut ties with Simon b/c they had plenty of DTs. It happens all the time, just b/c a player gets cut from one team does not mean he can't play in this league.

The guy blew his achilles last year in preseason, so that could be his problem. That is a bad injury for a big guy, don't know if I would count on him.

I'd rather claim TE-Teyo Johnson. Antonio Gates type skills but he needs to have his A$S kicked for wasting his talent. He was a big powerful WR in college (Stanford) and moved to TE in the NFL but has been plagued by inconsistency and lack of motivation (choose to travel to China during last offseason instead of working out with his teammates). With all that being said....he's still tremendously talented.
