What we need to realize is that our front office is smart in the way they draft for need. If we need two lb's on our defense they will draft three or four knowing that every draft pick doesn't pan out. Just like they did with wr, cb, de, qb, rb, and ol. They like to bring in multiple guys to compete with each other. I think it's a good thing that our front office isn't so arrogant that they believe every move they make is going to pan out.
I expect this offseason to be more of the same in terms of drafting multiple guys to fill needs. Now our front office has to decide which positions they will draft for. Three lb's two wr's or four lb's two nt. It will probably be something like this. But if Ronnie doesn't return and we cut Ginn or Wilson we may end up if a situation where we need to use our draft picks somewhere else.
This is going to be a difficult offseason for us to improve in multiple areas if the free agent market is non existent, so we will probably be forced to stay with what we have in all but two or three positions if we realistically want to give ourselves a chance to improve through the draft. This is why I disagree with all the "we need to cut this player or that player talk". This is why IMO we need to choose the two or maybe three areas where we need the most improvement in personal and hope the rest of the team will be able to perform their roles in our system good enough for our team to improve as whole.
I do think lb is top of the list of positions where we need better personal. NT is probably second. This leaves no room to improve our offense except to maybe bring in another udrfa wr or rb, where we won't find a number one receiver. Or we ignore the NT position and draft or trade picks for a wr. All I know is if we have another draft like the ones before Parcells arrived where we select one wr, two lb's, one rb, one nt, and one S I will be very nervous going into next season.
