so far in this off season i am hearing all the rumors about defensive players coming to miami (porter). this is crazy because our defense is the place where we have the best group of players with the exception of cb. our offense on the other hand is the reason why we are not winning lets just review: qb no future prospects to speak of and no clear starter, rb no depth behind ronnie brown. te mcmike will be fine if we have a guy that can throw the ball to him and peele is average but he can fill those shoes just fine as a back up, reciever again we need somone to throw the ball to them booker is very underrated, chambers needs to sharpen his route running but his stock will rise with a play maker on the other side and a decent qb welker is welker and does a great job. hagan can be a surprise if he can only hold on to more balls, fb would be nice to have somebody that can just dominate linebackers like lorenzo neal style to help "rb" and last but not least our o-line would be nice to strenthen that weakside in free agency and later rounds in the draft. however it looks un likely we will be getting a Guard because they are all getting the big bucks fairly quickly and miami wont spend the money. with a coach like cameron we need to have play makers like he had in SD to make an impact. the guys we have are ok and he will get the best play out of them but we need a "captain" QB to run the cameron ship. this is why i would make sure to address this position early in the draft (1st or 2nd round) then i would go O-line or CB next (2nd or 3rd round) and after that it is all depending on the best player available. if we can i would try to address one of these positions mentioned above in free agency with the exception of QB. i would also try to get tully banta cain if possible so that J taylor can spend more time on the line instead of playing full time olb in the 3-4.:dolphins:

Porter is the only defensive FA many of us have considered bringing in.

Other than Dielman and Stallworth, are there really any other FA that can come here and add firepower to what we already have?

Jason is a 4-3 DE and an OLB in the 3-4. If you want him down all the time in the 3-4, you are taking away his greatest assest. His speed off the edge.

The reason why we aren't going after offensive fire power is because there isn't any! The only two are an injury plagued Stallworth and an overpriced guard that thinks he is freakin Steve Hutchinson. The best player available in FA is now Joey Porter. If you want offensive fire power then worry about the QB situation. If we have a good starting QB our offense will feel an immediate change and be better.

well that is exactly what i am saying. bring in banta cain to play olb in the 4-3 but other than that there is no reason to bring in a a olb making as much as porter to play part time. if we bring in anybody on D cain is who it should be seeing how our other need cb is not going to be filled through FA. if we could get a weak side tackle in the draft and a qb to develop for the future along with picking up dielman we would be set on offense hopefully

If Joey comes here, our starting LB corp will consist of Jason and Joey on the outside with Zach and Channing in the middle when we are in the 3-4.

In the 4-3 (mostly in passing situations), Jason would move down as a DE with Channing sliding to the outside or Joey could move down to DE with Channing moving to the outside of him. Either way, he can only add versatility to the unit while also bringing a toughness that hasn't been here since Bryan Cox.

From what I'm hearing about Banta-Cain is that he is similar to Bowens, a situational pass rusher who struggles against the run.

what i am trying to say is that signing porter is not worth the cap numbers to further solidify a defensive position that does not need it. if we spend money in FA it needs to more cap friendly on defense.

There are still a few guys out there that would really help us out on both sides of the ball. Porter has to be our top priority now with all the oline men out of the pic. But there are still people out there like Ken Hamlin or that ol men Stinthcomb (spell check) who will be a nice upgrade i think. I also think Neoplian Harris would be a nice addition to the team. And he shouldnt be too expensive. I would love to see Harris, Crowder move inside with zach and porter on the other side when we play 3-4. And if we pick up ken hamlin we can move j allen to CB to help out the people there. If we can do something like that in F.A. then we could just concentrate on pick up a few oline men and a WR maybe a development type QB in the 3rd and a DL in the forth.

listen to what you are saying (add more cap burden to the defense at linebacker of all positions) wow not a good move. What about a offense that has been close to worst in the league for a few years now. they need some serious help and the only place on defense where we need help NOW! is cb and for that i do like the hamlin idea but thats about it.

Ken Hamlin is a safety. If he is brought in, that could possibly mean J. Allen will move to CB.

Our LB corp only has one playmaker and he was the second oldest player on defense. Joey would change that.

As it was stated before, there are not that many offensive FAs (maybe 1-2) that could add firepower to our offense.

Just because we need help on the offense does not mean we should neglect the defense.

yeah it does and mean we should neglect the defense for once the way the offense (qb position especially) has been neglected for years. and the o-line as well has been neglected, if we sign one FA it should be dielman. the man is a monster and a pro bowler for a reason at 26 years old. i watched a lot of chargers games last year and trust me he is worth it just ask LT.

Kris Dielman has "just" re-signed with the San Diego Chargers! So now it is a given that Joey Porter is MIA's #1 FA priority!

It looks as if MIA will go defense in FA and offense in the draft.

I would love to see Porter on this team but only if his salary is within reason.

I cannot see him getting more money than Zach and if thats what he wants then get that OLB in the draft...there should be some decent players in the 3rd and 4th rounds

I've been hearing tons of rumors about offensive players coming here from the top OL FAs to Jeff Garcia and Kelly Washington. Trent Green has been rumored to be traded here. Chris Brown has been linked to visiting Miami as well. this offense will be explosive by the time the season comes around just be patient
