Wow MM sure loves to call HB gut 88% of the time. How about we do some Draws, toss plays. DO SOMETHING! Stop running straight up the GUT! Ronnie Dances way too much to be effective for Gut running! Brown isnt a bad back people have to realise this.

how abou8t we use the Iback set with off tackle and inside stuff because line has no pusha maybe full can clear way and ronnie isnt quite fast enough to spring it outside

I have to agree with you there.

Seriously though almost every run MM calls is up the middle. Obviously our line cant make a hole so why not do some off tackle runs? I'm sorry but I would do a better job at calling the offense than MM.

today against the pats we should have been going through the hole just inside the tackles i learned it as 5 and 6 because you can avoid wilfork who is huge and be able to cut off the end with a pulling lineman or fullback and atleast ronnie get 2 second level everyso often

if you go back to last season and observe the runs that ronnie had the most success off of........ you'll notice that most of those plays have dissapeared.

I agree that we need to be more creative, but Ronnie has shown a lack of improvisation, and he hasn't been very quick bouncing it outside. I must admit, Ronnie spends far too much time coming to a complete stop and juking his shoulders while the defence closes in. This is not college ball...the defenses are too fast in the NFL. Just pick your spot and run it.

Yeh, what drives me nuts about people criticizing ronnie is their lack of knowledge when it comes to playcalling and schemes. I think the "uneducated" dont understand that the running back just doesnt get the ball and does whatever he wants. There are run blocking schemes which open up holes that they hit and gain positive yardage. If you see 18 carries for 39 yards...dont just assume the running back sucks or hes not getting the job done.

Certainly the running back still needs to be creative, but you can only be so creative when the oline is crap. Maybe its the schemes....maybe its the players....I'm not sure. Its probably a little of both. But as some of you have said, it doesnt help that the playcalling is bad as well. Is Ronnie gonna take blame, absolutely. Should he take ALL the blame....not even close. The run blocking needs to be better or there is no way that even the best running back in the league would be successful.

maybe ronnie misses some of the holes. sure as hell looks to me like there is an occasional hole and he just misses it and goes right up the gut. i really, really think if sammy morris got those carries he would of had more yds. ronnie looks so slow hitting the hole. he should be the absolute poster child when it comes to the combine being OVERRATED!! where is that 4.3 speed he had? i'm sick of the o-line and play calling getting all the blame.

the field was chewed up in the middle and not conducive to running. neither team's running backs could get traction. check out the stats! A good coordinator recognizes that and makes adjustments. we just don't have a good offensive coordinator. ronnie is running worse this year, the OL is worse this year and Shelton was supposed to be an upgrade over McIntosh, Hadnot at center was an upgrade over Mckinney, the offense is worse, the one constant: the new offensive coordinator.

alll of you need to realizw what is going on. it went on in 2003 with ricky and will be the same case for people in the same situations forever not only ronnie. When a running back keeps getting hit in the back field and has absoleutly no holes to run thorugh his mind set is different. he plans to get 3 yrds per play. ronnie just plans on getting 3 yrds and doesnt look for big runs anymore. remember ricky in 2003 when he would get 3 yrds and then minor would come in and do better. its just a mind set that is hard to break. same happened with aj feeley, the line was so bad the knew he had to throw on his back foot all the time.

there is no solution to our running game other than replacing 80% of the o line. we can't even spread the d out with single back 3 wr sets and run because our o line aside from carey and shelton (from time to time) can't even handle blocking 1 guy long enough to let ronnie get to the 2nd level. its pathetic. and i laugh at the people who say we aren't running enough. are we not in enough 3rd and longs already?

The OL wasn't ALL that bad today...certainly not great, but they played well enough to give Ronnie good yardage.

You say the running back doesn't call the plays. You are of course correct. Unfortunately, a good running back has vision and improvisation. These are what Ronnie seems to lack. A great back will bounce out or redirect when the hole is closing up in front of him. Ronnie hasn't shown much of that. The scary thing is, that type of thing isn't really teachable...it has to be natural ability.

I am concerned about Ronnie right now.

or.........

howz about we get an rb who actually has some moves?

you cant ask for a huge hole every time out. this is the
nfl, not a whore house!!

ronnie brown has NO moves, and ricky would have put
up a buck thirty on the pats today. and lests not even
talk about his 3 droped balls and his fumble.....

now you know why NO ONE ever gave him the starting
job except nick saban.
