Looking at the transactions through out the nfl, the Redskins are loading up again! They sure got the right man working the cap for them with all the big salaries coming in.
Saban and Mueller need to start getting playmakers in here and do whatever they got to do to do it!!
Yeah I know the Redskins load up and still choke but damn, we need playmakers now!!!
Any news on guys we are thinking of bringing in????

Great Players dont make a great team

Id rather have a team of good players that mesh well together, than a bunch of stars that dont compliment eachother well

The Skins did this a few years ago and it didnt amount up to much

We signed 3 and are working on a QB and then will probably also extend a couple more offers. Not bad for the first week of FA. News is on this site, forums, and home page news links.

Yeah, but two out of the three guys we signed are backups, we need starters and serious playmakers. To many guys are being signed and not to us.

Hodge could be a starter and had good production until he had to miss 4 games for substance violations (still had over 50 tackles). Shelton will be starting (barring major problems in camp) and Goodman right now would probably be starting for us (had a good year with Detroit...3 INTs) or at least take part in nickel and dime packages. So they should all make a contribution in some way if not start.

We're waiting for the QB business to be finalized before we extend offers to Adams for DT, Givens for WR, Ashworth for OT and we're still looking at bringing in other people. Those 3 will also be starters or sharing time (Adams with Traylor). It's still the first week of FA. We'll be ok...

There is this thing called the "draft", too.

I have a funny hunch that Saban might be somewhat enamored of the idea of Chad Jackson at #16. Don't know why but I have a hunch about it.

I don't watch too much college ball. What's the story on this guy?

good hands and had the fastest time at the combine (4.3 in the 40 I believe). I didn't personally watch his playing time in college (i'm not a huge college guy myself).

My personal opinion is that Saban has a grand plan looking at the big picture. Guys, trust me when I say that come opening day next year, this team will be ready to compete with anyone in the NFL.

It's not about going out and "loading up" as early as you can. Look at all the meetings Saban is having, he is giving everyone a shot and seeing who he likes the most. I just love watching the mastery unfold.

Also, did anyone notice some of the guys we have been passing on possibly due to salary? We passed on the expensive guys like Ashworth and Airington and went cheap at LT and OLB with Shelton and Hodge. I think Saban is ponying up to give Brees the money he deserves.

So note to everyone, sit back, relax, and watch the craft that is Nick Saban unfold. :)

Agree.

The Skins are stacking up like a Madden team or somthing.

You know, they've brought in a bunch of name players.

You know what else?

They will still stink

The Redskins are idiots. I know this isn't the forum to bash other teams in, but in all honesty the team continues to make dumb acquisitions. For isntance, signing Antwaan Randle El. I like Randel El a lot, but he is the exact same player as Santana Moss. Both of them are undersized burners who can make a big impact in the passing game and return kicks. There probably aren't two players in the league that are more similar. With that in mind, why would the Redskins (in all likelihood) overypay for Randle El, when they have a player who went to the pro bowl for them last year that does the same things? They needed a possession guy and they got another burner. Then they trader for Brandon Lloyd who is also a speed receiver. Any team with physical corners is going to make Washington's passing game look anemic. They're idiots.

I still hope the Dolphins sign Ashworth, I like him a lot. As for linebackers, I have a secret hope that we'll sign Petersen, but I understand the odds of that happening are very slight.

incorrect...

He had the fastest time among recievers. DB Tye Hill had the fastest time among all players in the combine. I really think we're going to draft a DB 1st round.

no WR, we have bigger needs. DB all the way. We can't load up with a ton of players due to money

Has there ever been a team that "loaded up" in free agency prove to be very successful in the post season? I don't recall one.

Look at Oakland last season...they made a blockbuster deal for Moss and paid big money for Jordan, but who was their top off-season acquisition? Derrick Burgess and his 16 sacks who they obtained off the NFL scrap heap.

Making a big splash in free agency is sexy but it rarely translates to success on the field.
