I for one am not overly excited about the coaching shortlist. Now that Fisher is gone we should take our time and exhaust every avenue. Kevin Gilbride, the NYG OC would be someone to look at. I am SHOCKED that Carmichael the OC from New Orleans isn't getting a look.

As I have stated, I prefer experience. I guy who has been a HC in the NFL before rather than gambling with yet another coordinator.

Is there a rush to have hire someone this week? Who cares if we wait till after the Superbowl.

I think we can do a lot better than the candidates we're interviewing the next couple of days.

I would like an experienced head coach too but its not gonna happen, these are the final 3 finalists, and yes there is somewhat of a rush because you want your head coach to be with you GM at the Senior Bowl, you also want to be able to assemble a good staff ASAP.

I agree with the no need to rush but if it's for someone like Kevin Gilbride I say no.

I understand the desire to have a coach in place for the senior bowl, but with Ireland sticking around, the scouting staff is all in place. It's not an end all be all. I just don't get what we're doing, and why our list is so pathetic?

There are some very good names out there that are not even getting a whiff.

According to who? I'm curious

I am not for rushing the process either. I think finding the right guy is not related to a time frame. If the FO knows these three to be the right guys, then so be it. If we needed to wait until these other temas lose to interveiw their guys, then Im ok with that too. It's truly a huge decision.

How about Billick for one. This is a prime example of not caring for the team or fans if Ross has a personal thing against Billick. If he's the right guy, Ross should put aside personal issues and reach out. Its all about wins and filling seats.

Exactly. King Ireland is gonna keep control of the draft anyway ... so what's the rush?

The primary reason there is a rush is that hiring a coach is only the first in a series of dominoes that must be knocked over to field a staff. They have to hire coordinators, assistants, and other positions before those qualified staff members are picked up by other teams. It also holds your team's plans in pause because the coach will need some consultation on talent and personnel moves.

You offer no point to your argument what makes billick so much better then other candidates and if he is so good and Ross is so dumb why hasn't he been interviewd for other openings

Billick brings experience, and credibility. He's been here and done it. He can put together a staff. It would bring respect, the kind that Fisher would've brought.
