No there is no link to the Patriots signing Jackson but this is the exact type of signing these guys wait for. They might not have a lot of salary cap space but they'll create enough for a chance to sign him. He is an elite talent and still young. He has behavior issues but the Pats love to get guys like this because they know they need to straighten up in New England.

We don't have that much salary cap room either but we could find it too if we cut some extra luggage.

Tom Brady and DeSean Jackson could break records together.

I also think this regime has a win now mentality as shown by their undying loyalty to Mike Pouncey who had the whole bully gate thing happen and his public affiliations with known convicted murderers. Yet Ross, Hickey, and Philbin have praised him.

That whole Philbin type of player is now a case by case evaluation of talent versus baggage. If your talent is outweighs the things you'v done in your past, you get a pass, and DeSean Jackson's talent far outweighs anything bad he has done. He has bad affiliations but so does everyone in the NFL.

"WE NEED TO SIGN PLAYER X BECAUSE I AM AFRAID!"

Great logic

With all these reports about him hanging with gang members and missing team meetings I see no way we go after him.

I'm tired of the Pats stealing talented players because other people are scared of his behavior issues. He would make our WR core elite.

You realize that DeSean has been linked to gang-related behavior right? The same destructive path that Aaron Hernandez went down. The dude is a good player, but a ****ty teammate and human being.

What player can you remember getting straight up released after a 1,300 yard season? The dude is absolutely toxic to any kind of positive locker room environment.

Check yourself. You think the Pats are gonna touch D Jax after the Hernandez fiasco?!? Did you even think before you wrote all that?

No CHANCE the Patriots sign him after the gang ties reports... Remember Hernandez?

@AdamSchefter: At least four teams reached out to DeSean Jackson’s agent, Joel Segal, in first 30 minutes after he was relesaed. Talks ongoing.

Where is this long list? Corey Dillon, Moss and Talib were short term successes. Haynsworth not so much. Chad Johnson? No. I guess Hernandez wasn't able to see that Patriot way either...

We are not signing Jackson and ANY reputable team will stay far away from him. Think about it...Philly just cut a three time pro bowl receiver coming off his best year and in his prime. Imagine how serious the issues off the field must have been to not even get a 7th rounder for him in s trade.

This from Jackson's agent of course...

The Eagles didn't think so and maybe the Patriots think they can get one year out of DeSean to make another Super Bowl run. With only about $4 million under the cap it's going to be difficult to outbid the Jets who still has over $20 million is cap space left.

If Jackson does go to the Patriots or the Jets, there is nothing we can do about it.
