I'm glad it's been next to impossible to get on Fin Heaven tonight. Because if I had made any posts before having time to collect myself, I can only imagine what kind of garbage would have spewed from my keyboard.

Anyway, here's my thoughts:

I had a bad feeling right before the pick was announced. It reminded me of 2001 when the Fins passed on Brees when he fell to them at pick 26. Seemed like a real no brainer.

Today was Deja Vu. The thing I don't understand is even if they really liked Ginn, his upside is so limited. Brady has amazing upside potential, and if he doesn't pan out, who would ever blame the Fins for picking him at 9? It's a no risk pick with limitless reward. I understand it's their call to make and you can't listen to fans and media all the time, but you should also not make decisions to spite the fans and media, and it seems like that's what the Ted Ginn pick was, as crazy as that might sound.

All that being said, to all of you who say you aren't fans anymore because of it, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

I want nothing more than to be proven wrong and Ted Ginn Jr. and John Beck to become the most dangerous QB receiver tandem ever. But at this point, I'm not liking the odds of that. Oh well.

Goodnight Dolphins nation. Let's sleep this one off.

They obviously didn't make the pick to spite the fans and media. That is just ridiculous and I completely disagree that Ginn's upside is limited. He has only been a wide receiver for three years and he has amazing physical skills.

A WR who was arguably the fastest player in the draft, doesn't have enough upside potential for you? And who knows how much upside Quinn really has? Everybody thought the same thing about Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Gino Toretta, Andre Ware, etc., etc., etc.

Give it time, we won't be able to properly evaluate this draft for a few years...

Gino Torreta ? No way dude, wasn't he a 3rd round pick ?

So Ryan Leaf was a bust. But the general conscensus was that he would be a star. No one can no for sure. Brady Quinn might be a bust too. But he might also be a Pro Bowl QB. A QB we should have had. Is it worth it to reach on a guy like Ginn and risk passing up on a guy that has the potential to change a team and be a franchise QB? Of course not! How does it feel to know that if Brady turns out to be that franchise QB, the Dolphins will have to live with that for the next 15 years at least.

I agree with you. Cameron blew it. After seeing him on the news he looks very disapointed and Mueller looks like he was crying. I really believe that Randy Mueller wanted to have Brady Quinn and was over ruled by Cameron. (so much for giving up total control)

Gin makes zero sense at 9 and if he fails Cameron will be forever known as the Fins Coach who passed on Brady Quinn.

John Beck in the second round is another mistake! 6-2 and small frame he is going to be 26 years old. Might as well assign him No.9 cus we just drafted Jay Fielder all over again. Watching him on the highlights reminded me of a young Jay Fielder.

Lorenzo Booker with Michael Bush on the board. Cmon.

Here is the way a real coach would have drafted.

1. Brady Quinn
2. Dwayne Jarrett
2. Center from Hawaii
3. Michael Bush

I dont think it was asking to much for once that the Dolphins would please the fans with a no brainer pick.

I will still be a fan but I have lost respect for this coaching staff.

That's my point. How many times do we have to relive missing out on Drew Brees type guys. Guys that were no brainer picks and coach's with ego's wanted to reach to try and prove how smart they are.

I love the picks that bikinibottom picked too bad you where not in the war room. Well don't worry i'm sure he can find more injured players to draft tomorrow.

I must have missed the news. Last I heard Mueller was GM and had final say. Link? Anyone?

Confirmed. Mueller is the man.

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_seasonticket/

Mueller on Ginn Jr.: "We had some conviction on this guy. I think he's a special player."
Cameron: "We got a fifth down on offense."
Cameron credited Mueller for an "outstanding" day: "He was the man in charge (of the picks)."
Mueller: "Only if they work out."
Cameron: "We're gonna make them work out."

I would sleep it off. As a Bills fan I find all the controversy amusing but Brady Quinn might not be all that.

Before this draft his scouting report read like JP Losman's....without the athleticism and a weaker arm. He certainly has some nice intangibles but Brady Quinn was not a can't miss prospect.

Ted Ginn Jr could turn out to be a star. Your coach has to start talking about him as a WR first, not a punt returner because that did look pretty bad.

:sidelol:

Ted Ginn was a reach at #9. Mueller isn't the one who claimed to have known Ginn since he was 15, Cameron did. Cameron is also the the one who made the speech about drafting Ginn's whole family and that Ginn was going to be a terrific return man. When I saw that it made me think of Wanny saying Eddie Moore was a good special teams player. I really think Cam had more say so in the Ginn pick than we know just by his admitted past history with the Ginn family.
I hope Ginn is a terrific receiver but you have to wonder how he will do at the next level at 174 pounds.

I wonder if Ginn's family is going to be running any crossing routes for the Dolphins next season?
