We ran the ball 6 times in the 2nd half

Damn... Only 6 times... No wonder why we got ****ed. Like belichek won't catch on those things. Play kids in madden with a more complex offense.

The whole world new Belicheat was blitzing and how did we counter it.. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sherman is a joke

Agree 100%. I think I'm finally coming around to the fact that Sherman is the biggest part of our problems. Philbin is too if he can't nut-up and fire him.

2nd and 2 at the NE 19 with a two TD lead, we throw it - incomplete, and then 3rd and 2 we get sacked. Why are we not sticking with the run there?!?! Could've put the game away, but that subsequent missed FG completely shifted momentum and 10 offensive plays later it was a tie game!

I actually like the 2nd and 2 call to throw it. Especially the way we were running the ball...it should have been play action though but throwing on 3rd and 2 was probably not a good call...but hindsight is 20/20...20/15 if you're a Dolphins fan.

Blitzing just made sense given that McKinnie had only been on the team a week and probably didn't know all the protection calls.

It's the failure to adjust. You have seen the dolphins coaching staff fail to adjust time and time again.

After 3 wins teams figured out how to play the fins and the coaches still can't counter that. It's a sign of piss poor coaching. I never liked Philbin but how they came out completely unprepared vs Buffalo really showed what a bad coach he is.

I bet during halftime the Dolphin players and coaches were in the locker room high fiving and say stuff like, "we got this" and "we're killing them" and "they cant come back", while Bellicheck was in his locker room saying, "we have to do this and this and this!" Its a total lack of coaching! Its not a good sign also when Philbin gets outcoached by a rookie HC in Doug Marone (who mind you was not a good college coach either @ SU).

It's insane to think that most people here know the best ways to stop a team from blitzing, IE screens and draws, and yet Sherman couldn't figure it out, or just didn't want to do it.

That same scenario has happened more than twice this season. When will that old fool learn.

YOU RUN THE DAMN BALL!!! It's exactly when we try and get cute that S%$T starts to happen. We are not the GB/NO type teams we have to play with whats working. You've already proven that they couldn't stop the run. Don't freaking help them out by volunteeringly stop running the ball.

Coach Philbin says all the time "Football is a simple game" if that were the case then you would think. IF they haven't proven they can stop the run then we would keep running until they do prove they can stop it.Anytime, you get away from it in that situation, you're more likely to hurt yourself and help the other team out. Is that last statement so hard to understand?

You increase the chances that an error will occur on your end as previous games have already proven(Sack, Int etc). Additionally, you start to help them with the clock. Essentially you're trading a known variable (Running with success) for an unknown variable Pass( Result=????). WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY???

Like I said in my other post..IT'S MIND BOGGLING AND LACKS ALL COMMON SENSE!!!

Saw this thread and completely agree. We had the Patsies and Tommy Brady tapping out and LET them worm their way to a win. By not staying with the game plan (and with some extremely PP calls by the refs) the coaching staff lost this game. That was the maddest I've been in a long time watching a game and I cannot fathom some of the playcalling. The Jests beat the Patsies last week by shoving the ball down their throat (52 runs) and controlling the clock. We did the same thing for one half and gave up on it. 17-3 at half... 24-0 2nd half. I'm so frustrated watching this team be so close and not having a chance to win because of extremely poor coaching decisions in crunch time. If I'm playing the Dolphins, I just try to stay close and tell my team ,"They'll fold in the 4th." And right now they will.

We abandon the run in the second half always. It drives me bonkers

Excellent analysis. A running game will protect Tannehill just as much as an extra lineman. I would also add lack of creativity in formations. It seems like every time we pass, Tannehill is in shotgun with one or no backs. The defense gets an advantage here because they know we're not going to run out of this formation. We should have a base formation that shows either a run or a pass presnap read. This is basic football. Now if you add to that more running (as you so clearly stated) then you add play action to the offense and you can attack.

We do run the ball out of this formation in the shotgun with a 1 back set, and it drives me nuts everytime we do!
