Call me crazy but our defense has more holes than Swiss cheese, and I don't see a huge difference between the defensive prospect in the teens vs the ones in the 20s.
if we can trade down into the mid 20s, and pick up another 2nd we absolutely should.

Developmental defensive end
corner
versatile linebacker

in no particular order. I understand the BPA argument, but these are 3 positions where a team can find some serious talent in the first 2 rounds this year. Trading away our much needed picks to trade up this year (especially for a back) would be a crippling mistake. Defense still wins championships in this league, and we need it desperately.
Use rounds 4-7 to draft nothing but interior for all I care... Chances are we'd find one good starter.

They might trade down. Lots of rumors being floated and smoke out there right now. Can't believe any of it.

I hope they trade down late teens, early 20's and still grab WJ3

crazy

Yep I agree! Darron Lee, Jackson III, and Nkemdiche would be very nice after trading down.

Probably should get use to a swiss cheese defense for another year.

I have to respectfully disagree. The Miami Dolphins history of trading down is dismal--just pathetic. While some might disagree with me on the Dion Jordan trade up, I actually think it was a very good trade for us except we traded for a ****ty person. The trade itself was good. If what is being reported that Cleveland is trying to rebuild and is offering a deal for the number eight pick, then we should consider it if we can get one of the big playmakers in this draft. I think we have a deal in principle if one of the two or three players we want are there. I like our FO playing to win rather then playing to not lose. What has that gotten us?

I agree! This draft class lacks star power, but there is good depth all through it! Trade back and get more bang for the buck!

Well if it's Jarlseberg (Norwegian style) it's a "blind" cheese meaning that it doesn't have holes or "eyes". So I'm just going to assume you're referring to Emmentaler or Appenzeller. :eat:

Every team has holes or weak spots. Good coaches and schemes mask them.
This notion that this team has so many more than other teams is pure hyperbole. No patience with player development. There are young players on this defense that are being dismissively overlooked i.e. McCain, Lippett, Hewitt,Vigil etc
Every year we whine about FA and read about the good teams building through the draft. Yet, many don't even have the patience to want guys around after 1-2 seasons if they don't show pro bowl potential right off the bat.

I go back and forth on this draft on a daily basis. Some days I like Eli Apple, others I like Conklin, then I drool over Myles Jack falling to us. Thus, I decided to think of it logically

- I am fulling expecting Tunsil, Stanley, and Conklin to all be off the board by 13 thus offensive tackle is a no go
-I don't see us going DT as we have a gold mine starting and a 2nd round pick last year that has showed some promise, but mostly there is no one that would make sense outside of Rankins at this spot and I see him going to the Saints
-Between the Bears, Giants, Cowboys, and Browns, I just don't see Elliot falling to us and I am honestly ok with that.

So that takes out Tackle, Defensive Tackle, and Running back

Then I thought back to the comment about drafting a starter at our slot
That means all DE's are out of the question as our starting DE's are already known
and quite frankly, I don't like any of them in this draft class.

That leaves Linebacker and Corner back
- I am scratching Apple and Jackson III off as they seem to raw to be selected at 13, even though Apple is a good Scheme fit

- I am also scratching Jack of the list because of his medical. I just can't see the team drafting an injured player 2 years in a row

Here are the final 2 I am down to

1) Reggie Ragland- I worry about about his passing coverage skills and if he is quick enough to be an every down inside linebacker. That being said, he would be a huge upgrade on the run defense and can definitely hit. I also like the flexibility he has to not only defend the run but rush the passer.

2) Vernon Hargreaves III- I absolutely hate when people draft based off of body type. Personally, I could care less if he is undersized. IMHO, he is the most polished CB in this draft and would excel in Vance's defense from Day 1. Literally his only negative is his size and I am ok with that

At the end of the Day I fully believe Hargreaves III is the Dolphins pick. While, I like Ragland, I simply don't think he can play outside Linebacker and we just got Kiko in a trade to fill our MLB role. Hargreaves could start from day 1 opposite Maxwell and should be polished enough to be effective right away. I firmly believe the Dolphins are doing lip service on every other guy in order for Hargreaves III to fall to them. With the QB run that is happening along with the offensive tackle run I am expecting, I could fully see him dropping to us at 13 and that would be fantastic!!!

If EE or VH1+2 is there, I draft them, otherwise I would try and trade down.

Don't get the hype with Conklin. Not a top 20 talent.
