David Carr and Trent Green. Good Quarterbacks who (with the right talent around them) could put together a good season. None of whom, however, remotely match up to Daunte Culpepper in his prime. Yes, I understand his "prime" may have ended with that injury, but I am not going to give up on his ability that easily. I am not saying that I am certain of anything, but he is (or atleast was) a remarkable quarterback at one time, and I would rather give him one more opportunity to prove himself before giving up on him for good. This is not some rookie draft quarterback, this is a man that has been in the game for a long time and has proven himself as a capable leader. I would be disappointed to see that the Dolphins let him go after putting so much time and effort into his arrival without truly seeing what he is capable of. That's about it.

I would love to give him an opportunity, but if we cant evaluate his readiness by end of april, we cant afford the money, risk, and roster spot. He may not be finished, but he lost his biggest asset...mobility. His game was thriving on it.

I believe DC should be able to alter his game provided we put a line around him. A good line is essential to a team's success.

JUST A NEWS FLASH, culpepper is NOT in his prime anymore. I do agree that we should stick with him for a little longer but if culpepper is standing in our way for drafting quinn or russel would would drop him in a second beause as soon as we do oakland is looking at culpepper. that would send one of the QB in the draft to miami. we need a YOUNG franchise QB and green would be a good teacher to one.

The guy only played 4 games while hurt. Give him at least one more season!

and if we do that, and green signs elsewhere, along with carr... and then if culpepper cant go again this season were screwed with what would probably be rightfully a third string qb as the starter... great idea. im sorry, i wanted culpepper, i wanted him to do well. but at this point... theres such a huge question mark above his head that we have to make a move while we can to fix this situation, cut our losses and continue moving forward. thats what i think anyways. id rather be stuck with a 37 year old qb who CAN play... and a young guy who needs some coaching than a qb destined for the bench and the IR again...

Agreed, a good offensive line not only makes a quarterback look better, but every position on offense look better. Therefore, we must improve on o-line this offseason(hopefully via draft).

I'm sure we are going to give him the opportunity, as every players has an opportunity in camp. But as I said in another post, this is not DC's job anymore or else we wouldn't look into bringing in other QB's to challenge for the starting job. It is that obvious. If anybody thought for sure he will be what he used to be, all of these QB discussions/news would be non-existent. Let's face it, there is a good chance he will not be the Fins QB this year. If he is, it's because he is the best guy to get the job done, if not obviously he wasn't. This is a business, and no business is going to hand the job to anyone because of sentimental reasons. That's the bottom line. I want the guy that will make my team a winner now and I don't care what his name is or how old he is. With that being said we also need to figure out who that guy will be in 2-3 years, and we need to figure that out NOW, too.

I respect your opinion and your reasoning. It was very well put and very respectful of everyone else's opinion. I, myself, am a Culpepper fan. I like him and hope he remains our starting QB. Yet, I am a Dolfan, and want nothing else than to win. I will support Cam / Mueller and whoever wins the job as our starting QB. I want a winning season. I want to play in the playoffs again. I want to make it to the Super Bowl.

Did I say anything about not drafting a qb or getting one in FA? No, I didn't. But to give up on Pepper already is a little much.

all I have to say is that it doesn't hurt to give him another chance. One he was injured, two, he played behind a terrible Oline, and three Mike mularkey was our OC. Not many qbs would beable to be successfull with numbers 2 and three... Its absurd that people are calling for his head already and actually want Trent Green here. Might as well had kept Gus Frerotte. Bring in some quarterbacks and let them EARN the job.

i hate how ppl are ready to give up on him...i hope we give him another chance...

Why the Culpepper Hating

Last year he was still injured, the year before he was in an awful situation. I just don't understand why people do not think Peps can do well. Culpepper did put up 35 plus TD and 4,000 plus yds three years ago. When his knee is fully recovered and he can move again I guarantee he will be a Great QB again. There are no IF's? when the knee is good he will be the Dolphins Field General. I just hope Cam does not write him off too soon... GIVE HIM a SHOT
