Wow. This kid can flat out play. I don't see the Cowboys letting him hit Free Agency. I think we all can agree we'd rather have Miles Austin then Pat White.

Damn :(

Bro Miles Austin was not part of the 2009 draft, so how could we had picked him instead of White. He was part of the 2008 Draft and we picked Merling in the second round which has been a pretty decent player so I dont feel so bad.

The list of talent out there that could help our team is staggering in the last draft. I'm still angry about the Pat White draft.

I know he's a weapon and will dominate and all...In people's minds.

I remain unconvinced.

Austin looks good though. Remember, it takes 3 years for a WR to develop.

That's what I'm told. Some WRs just seem to come in and do well. It's astonishing, because following the common wisdom, Miles Austin will be the best ever.

They put a 2nd round tenure on him in the offseason. Which would make him a RFA. If a team was interested in Austin they would make an offer. The Cowboys would then have a short amount of time to counter the offer or Austin would be dealt for a 2nd rounder.

The talk was going on in the offseason before the 2009 draft. Which would mean that if Miami would've pulled the trigger we would've given up a 2nd rounder which IMO would have been the Pat White pick.

Therefore, I'd rather have Miles Austin then Pat White.

I think this is something we all fail to realize. Everyone is so quick to give up on Turner but he hasn't even been around for a season.

Watching the game today tho I saw a lot of great things from Austin. If the Cowboys somehow let him walk he'll be in a Fins uniform next season. He's a guy Ireland/Parcells discovered and you can't tell me they wouldn't love to have him here.

I'm sure the FO feels the same way. Austin is energy in a bottle. Now they know that they can't play it safe to get a stud playmaker, aggressiveness is key.

The thing that confuses me is they knew what kind of player Austin was. After all they're the ones who discovered him. I guess maybe they thought they could wait until the 2010 offseason in hopes that Austin wouldn't perform this well and they could get him at a much cheaper price.

There are plenty of WRs out there and all it takes is the right eye. I think we have the right people in charge and within time we'll have a great WR core.

I apologize for making such a ****ty thread. I usually don't do this but after watching the game I had no choice.

I like Austin. Liked him in the post-season and would not at all have been disappointed if Miami would have gotten him.

That said, lets not play revisionist history.. Can you imagine the reaction if Miami would have given up a high second for Austin? Considering there's people round these parts who don't think Andre Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald are worth giving up a first for him, how do you think they would have reacted if Miami would have given up a second for "Dallas' 4th String WR"?

Should've, Would've and Could've...three ,lonely guys. Work with what we have now! Man get off the past...

It's not a ****ty thread.

Just keep in mind, Miles Austin was an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth. He was a diamond in the rough that Parcells and company took a flier on. He's made a living off taking fliers on guys just like Miles Austin. Perhaps the Dolphins have theirs in Patrick Turner.. Or perhaps, they'll find one in this season's draft.

Not trying to sound like a homer here, but when past history is in your favor, I'll be willing to give the benefit of the doubt that sooner or later, one of their own will be discovered.

maybe parcells will get the word out to austin to wait and hit free agency. But after today jerry jones should be writing up austins contract extension tonight!!!

Austin won't be going anywhere. I'd be willing to bet Austin's long term contract is finalized with Dallas by the end of the season.

Who said he wants to be in Dallas? But I'd rather have Marshall. But that aint gonna happen so idk im guessing we'll go WR early in the draft (i.e day one)
