For the people that didn't like the trade, we got more than originally planned. We were going to give up our 4th just for Fasano, but Jones threw in Ayodele to clear his salary.

• Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he never objected to the Dolphins raiding his organization for coaches and front-office types ''because if you help people take advantage of an opportunity, that helps you get somebody else that's good, too. I was proud of everybody'' Miami hired. Jones, incidentally, planned to deal only tight end Anthony Fasano to Miami for a fourth-rounder, but linebacker Akin Ayodele was added in the last 10 minutes because the Cowboys -- who signed Zach Thomas -- wanted to dump Ayodele's salary and thought he didn't make enough plays.

We orginally wanted Bobby Carpenter but the Cowboys weren't willing to part with him.

IRVING -- When the Miami Dolphins made a trade with the Dallas Cowboys for tight end Anthony Fasano before the draft, they also wanted a linebacker, and it wasn't Akin Ayodele.
According to an NFL source, the Dolphins wanted Bobby Carpenter, but the Cowboys weren't willing to part with the 2006 first-round draft pick. So Dallas included Ayodele in the deal.

That's the part of the post that troubles me...

:sidelol: Don't worry. It's not he totally sucked. He wasn't a probowler or anything, but he was solid. This had more to do with zach thomas. Ayodele was upset we signed him and said he wanted out because he wouldn't get a fiar shot to compete with zach. He felt the job was automatically handed over to Zach Thomas. I still maintain there was no "better end of the deal" for either team. It worked out both ways. If Jerry Jomes was as dumb as some people are making him out to be, he would have just tossed in Carpenter. You got 2 solid players. What essentially happenned, is we traded LBs. Ayodele for thomas. They play the same position, just swapped teams. If zach is healthy, and has no concussion problems, then that puts a whole new perspective on how "dumb" Jerry was for giving you Ayodele too. We will have upgraded that spot with one of the best LBs in NFL history.

trade was beautiful for both teams, but mostly us. fasano alone was well worth the fourth. ayodele will be a fine back up, or starter if we don't stop dragging our feet at MLB.

I don't think Ayoedle or Fasono will contribute at all. I think it's just a shot in the dark. Even if one or the other or both start, I don't see them making this team better. I'll be shocked if either are on the roster next year due to their contributions.

i think this was one of our biggest moves this offseason and will produce one young starter and one veteran starter. im excited to see what fasano can do as the top guy, and adoyele gives us a good upgrade and keeps depth within our LB core

Fasano, is parcell's guy. He was a 2nd round pick, stuck behind pro bowl tight end Jason Witten.

Regardless of anyones opinion on the guy, we traded for him because they want him to start. With a roster sporting the likes of David Martin and Justin Peele, this guy will start.

They'll probably both end up starting.

that one came out of left field. what about fasano do you not like? great blocker, great hands, great character. a bit slow, but who cares.

I dont see any way Fasano gets on the field, what with David "Glue Hands" Martin and Hall of Fame candidate Justin Peele already here.

WOW????? Was that a sarcastic response? Had to be.
Fasano doesn't even need to show up for camp - you can pencil him in already as the starting TE. Are you kidding? 2nd rd pick out of ND - BP wet himself after that trade. Akin is a good stop gap and role player until they can drfat and groom someone else. It puts some pressure on Crowder to work hard for once and stop eating twinkies. Great move for a 4th rd pick - starting TE - no brainer!

Parcells probably views Fasano as another Anthony Becht. No, Ayodele does not make many plays. But we don't necessarily need plays at the moment, we need run stoppage. If Ayodele can help us do that, then we can start to worry about making bigger plays later. You have to start somewhere. This defense was either the worst or second worst defense in the NFL last year because they couldn't stop the run. Stop the run consistently and the defense can get back into middle of the pack before we even get a bunch of big plays.

Well, I have heard at his age, that has been happening quite a bit lately, but he was probably wearing his depends, so no big deal.
