We won't take a QB in the second round

IMO we won't do this simply because John Beck is our guy. If our front office doesn't think Matt Ryan isn't a good enough upgrade over Beck then why in the world would they think that about any Flacco, Brohm, or Henne. To me, that would be a waste of a second round pick to draft a QB you think is only equal or not quite as good. Maybe they take one in the later rounds but not early. No way! I bet they take another OL.

I agree with most of that, except the part about them taking another O-Lineman in the 2nd. We need a OG, OG go later than tackles, we can get a premiere OG with at earliest our 3rd rounder. So i see our 2 2nd rounders being defense and then our 3rd and 4th being OG and TE in whichever order.

We absolutely better not take a QB before round 5 (assuming we get one at some point) because we have way too many other needs.

Just because Beck is here....doesn't mean the current Dolphin management thinks he's the future. You have to think...why did they sign a young vet....and why did they bring in and talk to all the QB's...if they were totally sure about Beck. I can't say that the Dolphin will select a QB in th second round...but to say they won't is just silly.

i no that no fan wants to hear this but if beck isnt the answer like some of you think than next year we will be in a position to tak a franchise qb, but as of right now beck can only bring us as far as our team is able to go, so we should bulk up our team so that the qb has the smallest effect of bringing us down. we can draft a 2nd round qb and disregard the other needs but what happens when they both turn out to be average qbs, none good enough to lead us that would have hindered our rebuilding proccess plenty while still not fully solving our qb problem. give beck a chance, if he fails we are in no different boat except for the fact that next year we can take a game ready qb early, compared to the 2nd round qb this season that will just start being ready.

unless you know something that the rest of us don't, you don't know that the FO doesn't think that Ryna is an upgrade over Beck.

all we know is that they prefer Jake Long over Matt Ryan....that's it.

Flacco with our 2nd 2nd would be a steal...Delw St or not, look at his pocket presence, arm strength and accuracy....all NFL caliber. More competition at QB the better, even for beck.
With all that said, he won't be available, F-Henne, go Defense then TE with the 2's

It's simple logic really. If Ryan was all that as some "experts" have claimed him to be, then we would have drafted him...period. I'm not saying Beck is our guy, even though I do like his potential but we just haven't seen enough of him to know for sure. But if Parcells believed Ryan was a big upgrade over Beck, I bet he would have drafted Ryan. Ryan may turn out to be good but his potential at this point is no greater than Beck's. That's why we will draft to put a supporting cast around Beck. As for McKown, he's better than many of us think. At the very least, if he doesn't beat out Beck, can provide veteran support in case Beck goes down. That's why we signed him...to bring competition and veteran leadership.

He played at Deleware not Deleware State. I know this only because I am an Applalachian State graduate and I watched App beat Flacco and Deleware for the national championship this winter. Flacco looked good but not worthy of a second round pick. By the way, I love playoffs in college football.:)

They just as easily could have signed a older vet...but they didn't. My point is no different than yours...but to say they won't draft a QB...IS SILLY. If the orginal poster had said he thinks they won't draft a QB in the 2nd round...that would be a different issue....but he wrote they won't.
