a team is only as good as its weakest link, just look at last season.
who would would you rank as our top ten weakest starters right now?
i would have to say:
10. vonnie holliday dt
9. lance schulters fs
8. gus ferotte/aj feeley qb
7. heath evans fb
6. olindo mare k
5. keith traylor dt
4. travis daniels cb
3. jeno james lg
2. tebucky jones ss
1. frank middleton rg
sure this is a season of rebulding, reworking and retooling, however we do not have that many holes on our team. a lot of these guys are good, solid players that would could start for multiple teams. its a testament to the quality of the other players. last year i never would have thought jeno james would be one of our weakest players...
im interested what everyone else's opinions are.
of course, this is based on who you speculate to be starting...
on a side note, if i had to pick the weakest starter in the whole AFC east, id have to say mike gandy buf. id hate to be in that position again where the weakest link is the LT.
ROFL those are our WEAKEST starters?
Vonnie Holliday will be a machine. Even at KC he was good, but he was not being used right. In Miami Saban will utilize him like no other.
Lance Shulters has been our biggest improvement in the secondary this year. He could possibly be our best player in the defensive secondary.
The quarterback situation sounds right, but I'd bump them down the list. QB could be our biggest problem this year.
Heath Evans isn't our weakest starter, but fact is will he start? Sammie Morris and Jamar Martin are both talented. Morris is an amazing running FB, while Martin is an amazing blocking FB.
Olindo Mare could be the best kicker in the NFL this year. But at his worst state he is still good (above average).
Keith Traylor could be the anchor to our defense this year. A nice big body to beat the hell out of offensive lineman. He is exactly what we needed.
Travis Daniels is a rookie, he will be a weaker starter. Being at the CB he could be the weakest. He has alot to learn, and will be facing some great WRs this year.
Jeno James was our BEST offensive lineman last year. He has all the tools to continue to be the best this year, but will have more competition.
Tubucky is definately getting older, but this guy reminds me of Sammy Knight. In my opinion he will do fine, but expect to see him get beat on deep coverage.
If Frank Middleton stays healthy, and actually starts, he has a good shot at being our best offensive lineman, it really comes down to him and Jeno. Don't forget about Stockar though.
A more realistic list (in no particular order) would be;
Matt Turk
Daniels
Crowder (should he play)
Zgonia
Feeley
Frerotte
McKinney (should he play)
I'd also keep an eye out on Hadnot, Carey, Roth, and Spragan. At least they have potential to dominate though.
