From the Sun-Sentinel:

Wide receiver Kerry Reed, who continues to impress, scored on an end-around reverse, beating about three guys for a touchdown during contact plays. Cameron mentioned Reed's fast start could be due to the Homestead native's familiarity with the heat. Kerry, however, mentioned that he has been freezing in East Lansing, Mich., for the past two years.

Many of the contact drills focused on the running game, and just a handful of passes were thrown by John Beck and Gibran Hamdan. The running backs were praised by Cameron for a lack of fumbles. On one would-be passing play, Beck showed impressive scrambling ability when he escaped the pocket and gained what would have been a first down.

I think we need to pay more attention to Reed on this board. Seems like he's got a good chance of making the team.

The only other thing of note is Lorenzo Booker is HORRIBLE as a punt returner! Guess Ginn's not going to be pushed much in that job, with Campbell gone and Booker pathetic.

2nd day of rookie camp, jumping to conclusions a bit early aren't ya?

Who will be the most relieved when top-pick Ted Ginn finally signs? It might be a tie between H. Wayne Huizenga and Lorenzo Booker. Booker is still fielding punts in Ginn's absence, and today looked like Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez in pads. A number of times Booker dropped punts, including one poorly timed fair-catch attempt. One arm was still waving as the ball fell in front of him, bouncing off his free hand
.

That doesn't sound like it's much of a stretch to say he's horrible! I understand it's early in camp, but it's long road from being that bumbling to being a competent returner on opening day. I would be on pins and needles if he's out there catching punts against the Redskins. Returning is not an easy skill to learn, and Booker's got a loooong way to go!

Booker is not projected as a KR/PR when weve got one the best potential returners since Deion Sanders. Booker is a 3rd down back and change of pace guy. Let him concentrate on that.

Agreed! Unfortunately, he's stuck being target practice for Brandon Fields until Ginn shows up.

can someone explain to me rookie camps? if the vets aren't there yet how can they practice actual plays? don't we only have about 9 or so rookies? does do the practice squad players go too even though they are vets?..thanks abunch in answering.

Let's see how Ginn does trying to receive punts that are dropping from the moon that Brandon Fields has launched. These bombs are scraping the ozone from what I hear.

Actually I think Booker is better at Kick returns than Punt returns, but if Ginn's not in by Saturday, Az Hakim will be returning the Punts...

I think Harvey Fialkov's camp blog is really interesting as well...

He talks about Mormino being at RG now, and Tala Esera at LG. Does that mean Esera is in competition with Liwienski? It could. Or maybe they've realized something in the Kendall situation? Alot of good bits about Booker struggling, Ginn still expected to be here by Friday, no competition at QB, etc. Very good read.

It's rookies, first year players etc. I think there are like 43 players there, so there are enough bodies.

We have 9 drafted rookies, a bunch of UDFA's etc.

thanks jdang i apprecieate it.. i had just found the answer reading the new beck article lol.

I'm not convinced Hakim will make the team. I think the 5th WR spot is wide open.

Remember Hakim can return punts too, so he has an edge besides experience.

I also liked the part where it says that "Beck showed impressive scrambling ability when he escaped the pocket and gained what would have been a first down." I didn't know he could run, and we better don't ask Michael Irvin on how he got it .
