Miami Dolphins linebacker
Koa Misi and
Kansas City Chiefs running back
Jamaal Charles headline the first injury report of the week for the two teams heading into Sunday's contest. Neither player was able to practice on Wednesday, with Misi dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 against the
New England Patriots and Charles hobbled by a high ankle sprain he suffered against the
Denver Broncos last week.
They were joined on their respective sidelines by defensive end
Terrence Fede (knee), running back
Knowshon Moreno (elbow), and guard
Shelley Smith (knee) for the Dolphins and safety
Eric Berry (ankle) for the Chiefs. None of the players who did not practice have had their availability for Sunday determined yet.
Miami also had several players limited in the workout, including tackle
Branden Albert (shoulder), tight end
Charles Clay (knee), safety
Louis Delmas (calf), linebacker
Jelani Jenkins (shoulder), linebacker
Jordan Tripp (chest), guard
Billy Turner (foot), and linebacker
Philip Wheeler (thumb). Also on that list is center
Mike Pouncey, who returned to practice this week for the first time since having hip surgery in June. Pouncey has been rehabbing from the torn labrum repair procedure with next week's game against the
Oakland Raiders in London as the prime target. He could, however, play this week if team doctors feel the hip is ready and coaches deem him to be in game shape.
For the Chiefs, linebacker
Tamba Hali (ankle/knee) and running back De'Anthony Thomas (hamstring) were both limited.
The Dolphins listed safety
Walt Aikens (hand), wide receiver
Brian Hartline (back), and defensive tackle
Randy Starks (toe) on the list as injured, but full participants in Wednesday's practice. Kansas City, likewise, included safety
Husain Abdullah (foot/quadricep), wide receiver
Dwayne Bowe (quadricep), running back
Cyrus Gray (foot), wide receiver
Frankie Hammond (shoulder), wide receiver
Junior Hemingway (hip), center Eric Kush (shoulder), linebacker Josh Martin (quadricep/tricep), and wide receiver Albert Wilson (ankle) under the full participant category.
A player not included on the list for the Dolphins may be the most interesting part of the injury report this week. Running back
Lamar Miller, who left last week's game against the
Buffalo Bills with an ankle injury, was not even listed as injured by fully participating. The injury is apparently minor enough that it is not bothering Miller this week, and he should be ready to play against the Chiefs. With the dislocated elbow injury suffered by Moreno last week, Miller being healthy enough to not be even included on the injury report is a good sign for Miami.
