Who would have thought that my blog entry yesterday about Rex Hadnot and Seth McKinney would actually be proved out today? If I'm Seth, I would be worried about the signing of guard Frank Middleton. If Frank is healthy for the season opener, look for him to start at right guard and Rex to be at center.

I don't think the coaches were or are unhappy with Seth. He was doing a decent job in camp. I just think they've been blown away by Rex (somewhere, Rick Spielman is smiling).

I win. :)

Meaty blog.

Remember, more than one assistant last year told me that Seth sometimes struggles with calls at the line. Guess they were right about something.

Look at Saban's comments on Tuesday: "Rex is a really smart guy. He’s a bright guy. Seth (McKinney) is, too. Both guys are good players. Rex is a powerful guy and gets movement. Seth does a good job in terms of the leadership that he offers, but Rex kind of does the same thing, so both guys can play center or guard.

To me that's Saban saying all things considered Rex is better at Center hands down.

This situation reminds me of Mark Dixon's second camp with Miami. After hearing that Dixon was panicked thinking that he was about to be cut, Jimmy replied that Mark Dixon is our best guard. If we moved him to tackle, he'd be our best tackle. And if we wanted to move him to center, he'd probably be our best center too!! Again, Dixon was coming off an outstanding first season as a Dolphin.

Basically, Dixon was our best lineman. Hadnot might not be the best lineman yet. But judging from the reports, the coaches have seen "it" in him.

Seth has never been able to get a push by himself. Meanwhile, Wanny was calling Hadnot "Roadgrader" the first week of camp.

Also, I love Rob Konrad. But Bedard has been impressed each time he's mentioned Heath Evans. Just a better blocking, more athletic guy.

I remember him back in high school. He could tote the rock.

THEN WHY THE HELL DIDN'T HE PLAY HIM?????

It still baffles my mind some of the things Wannstedt did. (or didn't do)

I hope we utilize Evans a lot better than we utilized Konrad. Granted Konrad was injured a lot, but we didn't use him like we should have.

And how about Kendall Newson??

He was coming on last August. But after that Achilles injury, I honestly thought he had a slim to none chance of making a dent. I think maybe the Marino injury scarred me in regards to Achilles injuries. It just makes me feel like it's THE injury.

Great to see Kendall making noise.

Yeah I saw on here somwhere that RW was giving props to Evans for his blocking.

I can't really say for sure. But I remember being at the Redskins preseason game. And on Hadnot's first series, he damn near got his QB killed TWICE by not knowing his assignment. I'm talking 'turn inside while the man in front of you charges thru the gap you've just created'.

Same thought crossed me mind. I guess that is why Wanny is gone. It is really frustrating because there were a few years here when Wanny was here we had some of the BEST talent in the NFL.

Then again, we're talking about Tony Wise here. Everybody was confused.
