Wednesday's Philbin press conference

Its not the question Omar asked, its the way he asked it. Being facetious wasnt necessary imo.

Thanks for elaborating man, I didnt even hear the question. Thats what happens when you just read text. Thanks anyhow. Im sure I would of had a different response had I heard it instead of read text from a 3rd party individual.

Geeze guys, yes Omar sucks. He has this infatuation with Garrard, which makes no sense. We all know he's not the future. So its a waste of time to start anybody else but Tannehill. But lets not argue over beat writers, who I'd bet a few folks here are more knowledgeable than they are.

I accept the arguement that garrad is not the future. I can also accept the argument that he was performing better than moore and tannehill before the knee injury. As per coaching staff's observation and reaction to his injury.

I don't doubt he was playing better. And if we had no future at qb, then start him if healthy. And this isn't just me disagreeing with Omar. I feel the same way with Ben Voilen or however you spell his name and his thing with Moore. Starting any qb other than Tannehill is counterproductive to the teams longterm growth. Unless he blatantly proves it'll make him David Carr.

I thought there were clear signs that for the first time probably, Joe Philbin is really feeling the strain of his position having to deal with the media. He's feeling the strain from Hard Knocks.

This is a classic case of putting a player above the team.. This team is more than just Ryan Tannehill. He will get his time. You have to consider the best player on the field and not worry about the future. If the future is better play the future..Right now I agree with Garrad out the future is now, so put him in with the ones id say. But first and foremost this team has to win. They have a fanbase they need to keep around.. Winning shuts alot of stuff up. I hear talks of people wanting us to suck so we can get another high draft pick. I dont understand that logic. For one, I dont have the confidence in the guys picking players that they will pick well in drafts with their high picks. So sucking this year does not mean success next year. So toss that whole future talk or we will never win ever. lets deal with who we have thats good now and put the best product out on the field. Philbin has to show that he can win, Ireland has to show that he can pick winners. Thats all that matters not just starting Tannehill because hes the future. The future will take care of itself.

I think it's a good question, too. OF COURSE it was a bad week for us. THAT much should be OBVIOUS. The question seeks to get Coach PHILBIN to tell us just HOW BAD he thinks the last week was, and WHY. And there's no one better to ask, that's for sure/should be for sure, right? Again, it invites the HC's analysis and comments.

I did not mean to start an Omar debate. The question would normally be appropriate but in this case the way Omar said it sounded like he was piling on.
The Hard Knocks thing is GREAT for us fans but it has to be hard on the staff especially Philbin.

if he goes with Moore and we get smoked the first game you KNOW the chanting for Ryan will begin.

If he goes with Tannehill and he looks terrible what's the next move ? Bench your franchise QB and set back his learning or bite the bullet and loss games until he learns. Tough call. Philbin may wish he had stayed in Green Bay by mid season.

My hope is the Moore starts against Houston and plays well. We play the Jets twice early in the season so that's two wins :)

Just keep us in contention and when Ryan is ready look out league. There's a new sheriff in town.
Next year we'll get him someone to throw to.

It seem like a meaningless and pointless question. Might as ask Andy Reid "Your son died and Michael Vick hurt his hand, how is your month going?"

I thought so too. Good news is he only has 3 more weeks of Hard Knocks to put up with.

word to omar. stop tweeting every damn thing going on in your life and others outside of dolphin football. i dont care. It makes me think your just trying to hog the tweet world.

i don't care what anybody says there is NO WAY he thought this was a good idea.
Can you imagine having to start a new job and have cameras catching your every move ?
Having to discipline or fire players is a personal thing as is the memories of his son. No wonder he looks a little frazzled.

Philbin say's he's not going to watch hard knocks. I think he needs to. He might learn a few things about himself and gain some futher perspective. Wouldn't you want to watch?

Yeah Im dead ass you want to know what that question means? Let me rephrase it...."Philbin tell us how you feel about everything that has happened within the last week"....Might seem like a dumb question but its a press conference....You and I might just assume that its not going so good..But you want to hear philbin say it himself..Maybe he feels like its not as bad as it seems who knows..You guys are too up tight.
The way you said it is a lot better than the way he said it. He is supposed to be a professional - both as a communicator and in his demeanor. He just makes himself look like a provocative smartass.

I understand that we can have different opinions but I just can't see how a professional "journalist" can be such a bad communicator. He doesn't help his opinions much by how he chooses to communicate them.
