Week 1 - PFF After Action Report - Jaguars vs. Dolphins

I also think some of the Eichenberg hate came as a reaction to his draft status and his failure to be an effective tackle at the NFL level.
Fans turned on him when he struggled.
It's not uncommon, though, for someone to be drafted high to play tackle, fail, and end up having a solid career as a guard (Robert Gallery anyone?). If he is solid here moving forward, there are worse things.
Bingo. Eich has failed at every other position on the line. Last stop RG, better do well....

Ya I watched his plays no way in hell dudes awful. Zero killer instinct at the 2nd level. Wiffed plenty in pass pro.
I saw one bad whiff by Eich early in pass protection, otherwise he was solid, I thought. On Ingold's first carry, Eich was on the ground behind his guy and Ingold had to plow thru that guy. However, Eich and his guy were 3,4 yards upfield. So, I assume Eich pushed him back that far before being shed. Take that every time. You know, playing center isn't easy. There's the line calls and the snap, all before you even think about blocking your guy. Eich can't handle that. But maybe he's found a home at RG. AS for Jones, let's just say we need Wynn back asap.

I’m hoping they keep Eich at RG. Let him and AJ build some feel together so they can lock down that side for years. If we need an emergency center, let someone else do it

After a rewatch, and isolating members of the OL, they seemed to do pretty well on all attempts. Tua was able to see second and third reads. Just my look though.
I said this in another thread.

It isn't just that he was ABLE to. It's that he did it. We have not seen this as one of Tua's strengths, or our OL.

I think people underestimate how valuable this is.

Last year, we got clobbered when the D took away our first read. It would usually result in a sack, or Tua making a mistake. I think this was the greatest factor in our demise in the second half of the season.

In this game -- our o-line gave Tua time, and he clearly went through progressions without getting flustered.

Ya i was concerned with him last year. Kohou has too many fans.
Far too many fans and gets too many passes for his feel good story and his play in his first year. He was terrible last year outside and in the slot and I can’t believe he didn’t get more criticism for his matador move in the final game when he jumped out of the way of Allen rather than tackle him.

He’s got a lot to prove this year as I expect Ramsey and Fuller to be good so he’s going to get targeted a lot.

Got to admit. I was pretty pissed with that offensive line after the first half showing. And would have never expected Liam to have a game like yesterday. He was either down the field or opening up a lane on his side. Will gladly eat all the crow if this continues.

I reminded myself after seeing Tua miss those throws he normally makes yesterday that this is the first half of football these guys have played together. The whole team looked rusty. Luckily the came on quickly and found their stride in the 2nd half. Hats off to the OL for sure.

I am still high on Cam Smith. He's gotta shake this injury bug.

Its surprising how attached some fans can get to a JAG.

It happens a lot more in the off season too, people think all their players are "pieces".

I think most hoped that he’d be back in a position to be successful after he played like a terrible fit under Fangio. Yesterday wasn’t a great start down that path.
