Week 1 - PFF After Action Report - Jaguars vs. Dolphins

Well, I won't be stubborn here. At the end of the day, stats are stats.

Jones stunk. But Eich, I have to lay off the criticism here.

It appears I focused way too much on his few bad plays and not his overall game which on 2nd watch, was pretty solid.

So, Mr. Eichenberg, in week 1.... GRYPHONK is eating crow. Please feed me a steady feast of crow for 19 more weeks.
and the criticism of Aaron Brewer since the day he was signed should now be revealed as the pure ignorance it was.
Cannot pass protect?

Child, please.

Yeah, you may be right here. It was 1 game, well see how it plays out.

But if Eichenberg can focus on just playing G, then that will be the best thing. He just needs to play average for this teams success. Yesterday, he was better then average, overall.

Agreed, Jones is the odd man out here. I am not going to lie, I still would have preferred Barton over Chop. However, if Brewer plays solid all season like he did yesterday and Eichenberg as well, then that definitely minimizes the need to have drafted an IOL in round 1, for me personally. I know you never would have drafted a G round 1 lol
It was a carryover from his two complete-game RG starts last season, where he was solid for 140 total snaps.

I also think some of the Eichenberg hate came as a reaction to his draft status and his failure to be an effective tackle at the NFL level.
Fans turned on him when he struggled.
It's not uncommon, though, for someone to be drafted high to play tackle, fail, and end up having a solid career as a guard (Robert Gallery anyone?). If he is solid here moving forward, there are worse things.
It also comes from the entire fanbase salivating over the prospect of us drafting Creed Humphrey and then when Grier had the chance, he passed him up to take Eich, and now Creed is a top 2 Center in the league along with Frank Ragnow.

See this is the problem I have. A post like yours.

It was 1 freaking game.

Child, please.

Bingo. Eich has failed at every other position on the line. Last stop RG, better do well....
He never got much of a shot at RT. They tried him there early in camp during his rookie season and quickly moved him over to LT, where he should have never played in the NFL. Especially with the more athletic Jackson available.
The way they moved Jackson from rookie LT to a 2nd year LG, and inserted Eich as a rookie LT wasn't doing either of them any favors.

Got to admit. I was pretty pissed with that offensive line after the first half showing. And would have never expected Liam to have a game like yesterday. He was either down the field or opening up a lane on his side. Will gladly eat all the crow if this continues.

I reminded myself after seeing Tua miss those throws he normally makes yesterday that this is the first half of football these guys have played together. The whole team looked rusty. Luckily the came on quickly and found their stride in the 2nd half. Hats off to the OL for sure.
Consider though that yesterday was the first game action the starting 5 have all played together. It seems logical to me that they need some time to jell as a unit, and any offensive line all share a symbiotic relationship with one another.

He’s actually pretty well versed about line play, from my experience. Maybe look again.

Could care less. He's arrogant and dismissive.

I have no problem admitting when I am wrong, nor acknowledging good play.

But rather then carrying on a conversation he feels the most important thing to do is respond with an insult.

So, I could care less how Verse some may think he is.

Posters like you are why it's tough to have a real conversation.
So many people were complaining after he was signed about how bad he was in pass pro with the Titans. Attempts to explain how he would fare better pass blocking for Tua seemed to fall on deaf ears. Then consider too as a run blocker he is tailor-made for the wide zone scheme. He covers ground in the open field with the coordination and suddenness of a big RB. He does not seem to me to move like a typical offensive lineman.
One play yesterday, which I need to watch again to be clear, was on the first TD drive. He was pass-blocking in the middle of the line, and after the pass was thrown, somehow Brewer had gotten all the way down to near the goal line about the same time as whoever received the pass. I saw that #55 and was wondering what the heck was going on. How'd he end up down there? He's a bundle of energy always looking for someone else to block.
What kind of real conversation am I making it tough to have?

You called him a child, what the f*ck do you expect?

Achane and Mostert are already dealing with stuff (not a shock), so those looking for Wright to play meaningful snaps should get their wish Thursday.
Wright should be very fresh for Thursday. It may not be a bad idea to give Mostert the night off and lean on Wright and Wilson to carry the load. If Achane would also benefit, make him inactive too, and elevate Deneric Prince from the PS.
