Week 1 Titans-dolphins Pre-game Notes

One thing that also bears mentioning, in my opinion:

Adam Gase might just have a bug up his ass about Dean Pees. The last time we saw Gase coach against a defensive coach that he is familiar with when he really wanted to stick it to them, we throttled Denver 35-9 in the "Stop it, he's already dead!" game that almost got Vance Joseph fired. He similarly coached an aggressive, "screw you" type of game vs Dan Quinn earlier in the season and Miami won at Atlanta.

I'm hoping Gase feels the same way about Dean Pees now and comes out guns blazing.

While some seem to dislike Gase for that type of arrogance, this is precisely why I love the guy...

I hate to just leave this here but it's a rather large tweet storm and I think you'll find it informative.

If anyone wants to discuss any individual tweets I'll be glad to do so.

Just read the whole thread... I must be honest, I've never seen you so optimistic about the Fins before, not sure if its because you now have an audience, but you sure as hell got me pumped up for sunday...

You should bundle that up and make a thread out of it, Im pretty sure alot of people would appreciate it...

Nah, I was pretty optimistic before the audience.

Lest you forget this (authored by me, though it's on the 3ypc account):

Hey CK. Your analysis is always great. I don't know why you don't have a national job somewhere...unless you do.

I do have a question. Are there any in-the-know Titans writer that do breakdowns like you? I've listened to several podcasts and they all think we are the doormats of the league and will be a warm-up game for Tennessee. Hilarious to say the least.

I really don’t know any, unfortunately.

They were 9-7 a year ago and just pulled the OC from one of the elite offenses of the NFL. They are going in confident.

Things like Mike Vrabel being a rookie head coach on the road for his first game, Delanie Walker getting up there in age, Brian Orakpo, Rishard Matthews, and Delanie Walker heading into the game cold, the successful incoming OC moving toward a personnel grouping that Mariota has historically struggled throwing out of, the right tackle being out, relying on two secondary players in Malcolm Butler and Kenny Vaccaro who have dubious histories...fans will tend to overlook that stuff as ultimately not important because it complicates the picture.

Maybe it doesn’t end up important. Who knows. Miami’s D has struggled in the past with mobile QBs, for sure. I don’t think Miami would have struggled so much with them if they had Jerome Baker, but you have to grant that he’s a rookie and will only be out there for half duty anyway. Dion Lewis always gives us fits too.

Oddly enough they mentioned Wake, understandable, and Reshad as "old" and compared Byard and Reshad to Von Miller and Kyle Vanden Bosch. LMAO.

Seems like it could go anyway but here's to hoping the OL comes to play, Minkah gets a pick, and Gesicki making it onto SportsCenter top 10.

Elite level analysis CK, much appreciated as always. And to think the Herald have monetised their digital dolphins ‘content’ and we get this for free..! We are privileged to have you contribute here.

A question I have re looking to exploit the Titans DLine with the inside run; do you think Kilgore can get to the 2nd level and take on the LBs? As you said, the Titans LB will be primed to attack inside and that means we need our OLine to take care of them, and Ive not seen anything so far to suggest that Kilgore is capable of getting there. I fear he’s a scrub and anything designed to run up the gut is likely prone to failure because of that.

Another option for Inside run would have been the Full Back lead, but with Gray on IR I’m not sure we have anyone on the roster now to play that role.

I think the key to this game is not to beat ourselves. No dumb penalties and no turnovers playing at home should get us a win. It's pretty simple. Play clean football. No turnovers and play disciplined football. Keep your gaps so that their QB can't hurt you with his legs and no drive killing penalties on offense is what we need.
