On game day we get 45 active, and 8 inactive... who do you choose for the 8 inactives? http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/roster/roster.asp

I say:
Pat White (Emergency QB, do not think we'll roll out the wildpat yet)
Patrick Turner
Davon Drew
Lionel Dotson
Erik Walden
Lex Hilliard
Chris Clemons
Cam Wake

This is harder than you think! Don't just call me crazy for including Cam Wake, try to choose those inactives for yourself before just yelling at me...

looks like a good list. i'd prefer to keep Turner on the roster due to his size. maybe keep Gardner off. or Davon Drew and Nalbone.

i thought gardner, but hes our only other Tackle if Long or Carey get hurt (knock on wood)... we dont have many Olineman to begin with, was gonna leave off Berger, but hes the only other one who can play Center, then was going to leave off Murphy, but that leaves us just 2 backup Olineman all game, risky...

yeah, it's a bit risky to go into the game with only 7 OL. maybe put Nalbone on that list and activate Turner.

i want to put henne as the 3 and have pat as 2. if penny ever went down than we put henne in, and cant use pat or penny and we just wont use the WC ft. Pat, no big deal, but if we have henne as the 2, we cant use the WC ft. Pat all game. I dont like that, we at least need to give them the fear of it.

Agreed. If there really is a wildpat formation, or just the threat of using it, this makes the most sense. Besides, if Henne's going into a game it's already because Penny went down, or we're losing big, or winning big. All three of those scenarios can do without the option of running the wildpat, as you said.

I think u might be very close on this list. I dont think u are crazy for including Wake since he is 4th on the depth chart

With how bad our ST's has been i don't think we can keep Walden off the active roster. Walden is amongst the best of the pourous group.

I'm thinking we may want to make Turner active considering the small corners that Atlanta has. Unless we plan on giving Sean Smith some plays on offense which I doubt will come about this early in the season.

I wonder if the Dolphins could get away with making Chad Henne the 'emergency' QB and making Pat White just plain inactive. They have a lot of confidence in Henne. If Pennington needs to leave the game in the first three quarters, I imagine they wouldn't have much problem with Henne having to come in and play a quarter or two until they get to the fourth quarter when Pennington can come back in.

That's the way I would handle it. If you really have confidence that Henne is the future, then you shouldn't be scared to put him in the game should Pennington get hurt for a bit.

So if *I* were running things...the following would be inactive...

QB Chad Henne (emergency QB)
QB Pat White
RB Lex Hilliard
OT Andrew Gardner
TE Davon Drew
TE John Nalbone
FS Chris Clemons
DE Lionel Dotson

That way, we could throw Cameron Wake at them as a DE on passing downs, we could throw Patrick Turner at shrimpy guys like Chris Houston and Chris Owens, and we could keep Erik Walden, Charlie Anderson and Jason Allen on for special teams. One limitation is that if Penny gets hurt before the fourth quarter to where Henne needs to come in, Penny can't come back until teh fourth quarter...which is fine by me. The other limitation is the Dolphins would not be able to use a 3-TE set. But, my game plan against the Falcons would focus on spreading them out and running the ball that way, so that wouldn't be a big loss to me.

My list would be:

White
Murphy - Berger can play all three interior positions.
Turner/Hartline
Dotson
Nalbone
Drew
Clemons
Anderson

I see Hilliard, Waldon, and Wake having a higher value because of special teams, Charlie Anderson is always making a boneheaded play on special teams. I also think we can use a RB like Cobbs or Hilliard to fill in for our thin TE position.

Gardner inactive? wow, who plays tackle if one of em goes down?

Speaking of Smith, did you happen to catch his little...hiccup...in his 9/7 interview?

it floors me that some people wanna make cam wake inactive. we need him for the pass rush.

regarding gardner who plays tackle if we take a injury hit if he's inactive. not that i think he's ready but who else???

also, no pat white package in this game???

Shawn Murphy can play RT while Vernon Carey switches to LT in the event of a Jake Long injury. In the event of a Carey injury, then Murphy can just take over there.

Also, Joe Berger has experience at four of the five OL spots.

The Dolphins generally only brought 7 OLs to the games a year ago. Most NFL teams bring 7 to the games.
