Well it has come down to this. Chad Pennington returns to New York to not only get his current team in the playoffs, but to eliminate the team that threw him on the scrap heap before the season began. U can't really script it any better than that . . . and what a story it would be. We are 10-5 people!! And we are ONE victory away from divisional glory. Let's see what it is going to take:
If the Dolphins win :hi5: - THE FINS WIN THE DIVISION . . . AFC EAST CHAMPS . . . They would then have a HOME playoff game the following week against either the Ravens or the Patriots (If the Ravens and Patriots both end with either a 10-6 or 11-5 record . . the tiebreak goes to the Ravens because of the better conference record.). If we are able to win that game, we would then travel to Pittsburgh and play the Steelers for a spot in the AFC championship game. Wow!! Let's handle our business this week and get in the playoffs.
If the Dolphins lose :boohoo: - THE FINS ARE ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS. In this situation if all 4 teams competing finish 10-6 . . . the Jets win the division because of the 1 divisional loss and the Ravens win the wildcard because of the better division record over New England and the head to head win over Miami. If the Ravens win, they own all wildcard tiebreakers, and they get the 6 seed. If they lose and the Patriots win, the Patriots win the division and the FREAKING JETS win the wildcard because of the better conference record over the Ravens. This would be heartbreaking for Dolphin fans to see those 2 teams play each other on wildcard weekend the following week.
If the Dolphins TIE :err: - Highly unlikely of course, but if we did tie the Jets . . . we would need New England to lose/tie to win the division. We also could win the wildcard if the Ravens lost and New England wins.
Obviously we gotta win this game . . . not only is it a rivalry game, it would complete the most improbable run in NFL history . . . a team from 1-15 to 11-5 . . . I want all my Dolfans to be out in full force this whole week and support this team. They have made me so happy this year, whether at work on Monday mornings or just to think about playoffs with them. Win or lose next week, we don't need to bad mouth any of these guys, because they have played their hearts out this year . . . and may have KILLED a few hearts in the process with the close games lol.
Go Fins!!
