We need better LB's
First off let me mention that this game will not be like the previous late games against the Pats. This game is meaningful in more ways than the obvious. What seemed like a nightmare game for us as a must win against the unbeatable Patriots, for us to need have to get into the playoffs, has become a meaningless game between two playoff teams, ultimately making it a very important game to Miami. I know what I just said seems contradictory but let me explain...
Now that this game has no effect in whether or not we make it to the playoffs, this game has become the ultimate practice game for the playoffs. Think about it, they are considered the best team in the game, with the best QB, with the best coach, with the most playoff experience. Let be real about this, if we needed to win this upcoming game just to get into the playoffs, we would be so ****ed it would not be funny.
But the football gods have been smiling and shining their praises down on the Miami Dolphins this year in a way not done so in a few decades. Fast forward to week 17, we have now secured a wildcard playoff spot, something only the overly optimistic bordering on delusional fan would think, specially when we were 1 and 4. We are coming in with our back up QB, he is playing the best ball of his career but he has been thrust into these games with no kind of warm up to prepare him for this season or this upcoming playoff push.
This game has now gone from traumatically essential, to potentially the catalyst of a Miami Dolphins Superbowl win. I know, I know, I just did the unspeakable, those words in this forum are like saying the word Voldemort in Hogwarts but please hear me out. If we are able to do the improbable, this game could play a big role in doing so.
Simply playing these guys is going to be good for our team because our players are going to get tested in every phase of the game prepping them for the playoff attitude all teams bring. A loss would be a growing experience which would help our players and coaches learn from their mistakes and show us that much improvement and better work ethic will be needed to beat teams in the playoffs.
A win on the other hand would be inspirational and confidence boosting to this team like nothing else could be. If we are able to beat the best team, in a playoff atmosphere, against our greatest foes, and the cheating bully of the NFL, our team would truly believe that they could beat any other team and would give them the most momentum going into the playoffs. Regardless of that fact though, if we want to win a Superbowl this year, we will have to win a game in the playoffs in New England, and what better way to prepare than to face them beforehand.
Additionally, for Matt Moore to go up against a Bill Belichik coached defense will tell us a lot about Moore, and will help Moore get ready for what is yet to come more than anything else could.
At this point, I am truly just happy to be in the playoffs and have my team be the buzz around town. Regardless of how the rest of this season plays out it has been one of the best of my life.
