Actually Ryan is doing better this year with the deep throw. After 2 games it looks like he is 7 for 16 for 203 yards. He only had 9 long completions all of last season. He has always been around 30% for his career. Definitely an improvement at over 40%. Still no long TD's though. Last year we only attempted 42 deep throws the whole season but this year 16 in 2 games. Hell yes.

One issue though is the production in the 4th quarter. We are only 1 for 5 for 17 yards when the other team takes away our short passing game and stacks the box in the 4th. This is the same game plan we see every week and will continue to see until we hit some deep pass plays with the game on the line. Copycat league and until we burn some teams in the 4th they will continue to play all 11 within 20 yards of LOS with game on the line.

its nicer to throw downfield with more targets that can actually go downfield with better route running, as well as a scheme to hit up seams, holes etc... as a team (instead of just GO DEEP Wallace and catch this).

4th quarter, would definitely help as well if we were not always trying to play catch up as well, where defenses can sit back on us and focus on our passing attack and getting to Tanny... penalties against Jax also killed and destroyed many chances for us.

gotta be able to block and run the ball... defense needs to play strong early and all game, not let up so much in the first half.

i think we can get this all going!!! but i agree with you!!!

It almost seems like that is the plan for all teams that play us. Stay back and don't let us get any big plays early and stay close to us on the scoreboard. Gives Lazor a false sense that we can move the ball easily. Then they put everyone up within 20 yards of LOS in the 4th and takes us out of what was working all game. We have yet to adjust and make them pay for stacking the box. It will continue as longs as it keep working.

never fully thought about it that way... but definitely makes a lot of sense. its how we have been for years basically!!!

The only games we have won recently all had a long pass play that led to a TD or Punt return TD in the 4th. (3-0) Jets (away), Vikings, Redskins. We scored a 4th quarter TD in these games and won all 3.

The other 4 games sandwiched in between were all losses (Balt, NE, Jets (home) and Jax). No long passes were completed in the 4th quarter in these games. No TD's were scored by the Dolphins in these games. I could go back further but I'm sure the pattern will continue.

Got to find a way to score a TD in the 4th or get way ahead before the 4th quarter even begins to foil these tactics by the league.
Lazor, are you listening?

oh i agree... and it has been this was for years. lots of aspects go into where we are in the 4th quarter... but yeah, we need to start getting it going all game so teams cant sit back on us and focus on stopping one offensive aspect we are trying to accomplish towards the end of games.

especially week 2.... look at all those deep ball TDs... and those were just the TDs... it would be nice to explode sometimes like that!!!
