Week 8 Other Games

Detroit's really shorthanded. Perfect bounce-back game for the Falcons.

Stafford is throwing to guys that were bagging groceries last week.

If the Falcons find a way to lose than Mike Nolan and Mike Smith should be fired.

7 minutes to play in the third quarter. Score: ATL 21, DET 0. 4th and goal from the Atlanta 4 yard line.

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell elects to kick the field goal. If the owner has a brain in his head, he's already looking for a new head coach.

What is wrong with NFL head coaches? Why are they so ****ing stupid?

Rooney Rule?

Jim Caldwell did not get hired because of the Rooney Rule. It simply states that you must interview a minority, not hire them. Unless there was some kind of behind the scenes arrangement for Detroit to hire a minority candidate, it wouldn't be applicable.

Even then, why Caldwell? He is AWFUL. Talking to Lions fans it was like, they couldn't understand it and didn't believe it. If you want to hire a minority coach, why not go after a guy like Todd Bowles or one of the other good minority coordinators? There are plenty of good minority head coaches in CFB, too... make an offer. Ugh.

Take the points because there is still plenty of time. Now 3:42 left in the 3rd, 21-10 and the Falcons are turning back into the Falcons

Looks like the Lions are playing against Melty, the Falcons and the refs today. :idk:

I disagree. this could be a one possession game right now. 21-0 and 21-3 is still a... oh my goodness, Matt Ryan, that was awful.

Just as I was typing up that post, Matt Ryan throws a Kirk Cousins.

Most Lions fans are happy with the change from Schwartz to Caldwell. I follow them and watch all their games having grown up there. The reason the defense is playing better with the same players is that Caldwell has instilled discipline and hired a good core of assistants. Even Stafford who was coined "uncoachedable" has responded well to Caldwell.

With the amount of injuries to that team it says a lot that they are 5-2.

That pick was the OL's fault.

Ryan should have never thrown that ball in that area. There was pressure for certain but that doesn't excuse that terrible decision he made.

It's now a 1 possession game and all of the 4th qtr left. Amazing given the amount of injuries the Lions have.

I get why they are taking the field goals. It makes sense now. They simply don't trust Matt Stafford to throw the ball inside the ten yard line, and I don't blame them.

Who is he going to throw it to? He has gone from 6'6" Calvin Johnson with Pettigrew, Ebron and Fauria to 5'10" Golden Tate.

And Melty sacked and fumbles again.

Golden Tate is good. Also, just for an example, who does Ryan Tannehill have to throw to in the red zone? Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Charles Clay, Lamar Miller, and Dion Sims? Really?

Speaking of Tate, I still laugh whenever people claim that the Seahawks had no weapons in the passing game. Tate is a legitimate #1.

Tannehill has no red zone target. Getting Vincent Jackson in a trade would be huge. As for Tate, hell yeah he's a legitimate 1. He's the only threat on offense and still being productive. He opens the field up for everyone else. When Megatron, Reggie and the 3 TEs get healthy, watch out. That is a dangerous team.
