Week to week I stop into this forum and while I think regardless of how the rest of the year plays out I would think that 99% would agree the Dolphins have excided expectations for the year. Which leads me to read the posts day to day and many of course are positive some are neutral and others negative which in this great country falls protected under that truly great amendment of freedom of speech. I see a lot of posts reading what happened to this player this week? Joey had a down week a couple games ago but as many of you pointed out it was against a future hall of fame tackle and all pro Orlando Pace. Channing Crowder might not be as ball savvy as our beloved Zach was in the middle but regardless of what you say about him he is consistent as the day is long. Bell may not have the greatest hands for a safety but he is a hard hitting back bone player who is a huge part of why the fins give up less then 100 yards rushing a game. Allen and company might be ranked 22nd in the league in coverage but somehow seem to come up with the big plays they need to stall a drive nothing flashy just business. The D-line with Ferguson and company have kept opposing guards off the backers all year and improved their abilities to rush the passer and make tackles see Joey’s sack total and say thank you to Fergy for occupying two blockers most of the time. While it might not be the most formidable defense in the NFL this year they are good enough to give the Dolphins a legitimate shot to win every week and with exception of that team out in the desert have held their own all year long, toe to toe.

The offense with so called noodle arm and a bunch of receivers that no one would trade a six round pick for at the beginning of the year is some how ranked eighth in the league, dinking and dunking their way to wins. I bet that gun slinger up north is thinking about that game in three weeks and what if he losses and oh by the way that gun slingers passing attack is 7 spots lower then Noodle and company right now. That young O-line was suppose to be making mistakes but it seems like it doesn’t matter who they plug in to the line they perform well enough to let Ronnie and Ricky rush their way to 12th in the league and is averaging 4 yards a carry and if my math is right three runs of 4 yards equals a first down every time. The tight end play has been exactly what is needed. Shut down the receivers and Martin and company catch ten balls for over 100 yards, perfect Ying and Yang.

The coaching as been spotty at times but they are young and up and coming also. They have to go through some growing pains as does anyone in a new roll. Give them kudos for installing simple and to the point plays that compliment what they have talent wise. Like the wildcat or not the offense has every advantage over the defense on the field and anything that makes that defense take time away from preparing for the normal X’s and O’s is a good thing and gives the offence a greater advantage then it already has. The biggest credit comes getting the players respect and getting them to “buy” into the philosophy that any winning team has, do your job it is what you are paid to do.

Every week I see some aspect of the Dolphins pick up the slack and make it possible to win the games week in and week out. Be it a game ending sack by Porter and Co. or a fourth quarter drive that consumes 5 minutes of the clock and puts 3 points up and makes it a two score game. These Dolphins have something in Florida that has been missing for almost a decade and this Phin fan is proud to see it return, it is belief in the system, from the top brass down to the assistant coaches. It is belief that no matter what, they will go on that field and punch you right in the mouth. If you take that punch and hit back harder the best man won but look out if we see you again because like in every Rocky movie we will be more prepared and hit you twice as hard next time. This fan doesn’t care if Ronnie and Rick only rush for 50 yards if Penny and Co. pass for 300 and win the game because it was mistake free. This fan doesn’t care if Joey has two tackles and no sacks as long as they D gives up less then 100 yards rushing and the opposing team scores less then 20 points because oh by the way every game that has happened in the Phins have won. Some critics point to a soft schedule but I bet a lot of those critics also had San Diego, Buffalo and Seattle in the playoffs at the start of the year. So I say I don’t care who steps up every week and hits the ball I am just excited that everyone has had a turn at the plate and a turn at being the reason a game was won. It a philosophy this fan has not seen in Miami since my son was born and he is ten! Go Phins and I applaud you for proving every critic wrong out there, every one that gave you no respect week to week all season. You made it fun to be a fan again this year!
