Wes Welker is a good football player ... but you're not going to win championships with that kind of player.''
-- Sirius NFL Radio host and former Dallas personnel czar Gil Brandt, on his satellite show last week, discussing the wide receiver/returner who was traded from Miami to New England last month.

I agree totally. It is a good thing that we got a 2nd and a 7th for him!

Thats more of his opinion than a critique. Welker is an average receiver at worst and does deserve credit for his hands, elusiveness, and all around great attitude on and off the field. With that being said...

I think we got a big steal with that trade. I would have taken a 2nd a 7th for him too.

Realisticly, a Welker is probably worth a 4th rounder. He has a lot of upside, but the fact remains that he is not a superstar player and has only two touchdowns in three years playing. Miami got a huge steal with the 2nd and 7th round picks.

You are correct:ninja:

yo ill,

why is champ wearing dolphin colors in your sig?

From our point of view it may look like a great deal. However I am sure the Patriots feel the same way. There are certain players who thrive in certain systems and I believe Welker will find an important niche in that team.

Excellent point.

A second and A seventh is agreta deal for a guy we picked up off the scrap heap. I like Welker he has alot of heart and stuff that can not be measured ay a combine but realistically very seldom does a player like him snare you a top pick like that.

Especially considering that the Patriots, the best team of this decade and unquestioned champions traded for Welker, this Brandt quote seems kind of stupid. Does anyone doubt that Bellichick knows what he is doing?

That being said, I'll take the 2nd and 7th thank you very much. Here are a few questions for thought: Would the Pats have traded the pics for Chris Chambers and all of his physical talent? Did they even inquire about him?
Did anyone? Why not? What about Randy McMichael? Why wouldn't anyone want him with all of his talent? Why then a strong market for Welker? Hmmm. Maybe something to do with being a hard working, productive team player. One with multiple skills and a strong desire to succeed and win. Hmmm.

I think it's a stupid quote. There are a lot more people that make up a team, and Wes is certainly not a weak link in the puzzle by any means.

WELKER was a big lost for us he is going to be a very good player for NE you guys wait and see and will be grabbing our heads this season.

Chamber would have renegotiate his salary to be trade able.

I believe McMicheal attitude is is what ultimately got him showed the door.
