The NFL Network reports New England Patriots WR Wes Welker signed a five-year contract with the team. The deal is worth $18.1 million with $10 million guaranteed.
 
Still, $10M gauranteed is pretty good living for a guy who was on the scrap heap a few years ago. Good for Wes. Class act.

This is the same money Wes would have gotten in New England anyway. The other 20 million was a poison pill in the contract. Kraft found out about the poison pill and called up Miami to work out a trade in order to not have to deal with the league over the poison pill issue.
 
Glad for Wes. Sad he's gone. Glad to have an extra 7th and 2nd for him.
 
Hey Wes you will be on Jacked Up next year, can wait for ZT to knock you out. Sorry but he is an enemy now.

True. I still wish we could have kept him. But hey. It didn't cost us anything to acquire him. If they want to give us a two pcisk for him, it's fine by me.
 
He was a great contributor for this team. Like many of us here on FinHeaven, I wish him luck... until game day :wink:
 
A 7th round draft pick vs. 5.5 mil cap hit for the Patsies? I think I would rather have had the cap hit for the next few years.
 
Wes was one of my favorites, good for him and second round and seventh round picks. If we are going to lose him this is great. But going to miss him.
