:dolphins: does anyone remember jim jensen...for 11 years this guy wasnt the star wasnt a starter but he continued to produce time and time again when his number was called..jim is still listed today as a qb/rb/wr..wes walker should be listed as wr/rb/kr/pr/k/p/ and one throw this year to dante he will be listed as a qb..wes is nothing but an all around player that when he has the the ball he will produce numbers for the team..he doesnt have that first move but give him a BLOCK and you will see him go hit the hole and not hesitate to take a hit and continue on....wes is an important piece to the puzzle that connects a picture to the lombardi trophy..........

There's really not much of a comparison between the two. Jensen was a 3rd string QB who could play H-back. He understood how to get open, had good hands, and at 6'4 / 215 lbs, had the size to use to his advantage. Welker is a 5'9 WR/KR with good hands. He's got playing time with us only because we've had no one else at the position with any ability. As soon as a bigger, faster player (Hagan) steps up, Welker will lose his playing time. And as soon as a kick returner with more explosive playmaking ability steps up, Welker will lose his job there, too. I like the guy, I think he's tough and gets the most out of his ability. But, he's just not that good.

I loved Jensen, he was a heck of a football player. But, it's misleading to say that he produced for 11 years. He was really only a factor in the team's offense in 5 seasons.

Before we make any Jim Jensen / Wes Welker comparisons, Welker has to score more than one TD.

I'm not really sure why people are so enamored with Wes Welker. Yes, he's very tough, but he's no more talented than such journeymen return guys we've had as Scott Miller and Jeff Ogden. Wes Welker is the Jay Fiedler of return men -- two guys that give all they have, but not very talented.

I think next season we'll target an explosive return man in the draft because in reality, Welker is a stopgap until we can find someone more talented.

While we're on the subject of special teams, I think we'll miss Bryan Gilmore as a gunner on returns. We could have used him tonight. I think they envisioned Kelly Campbell filling that roll, but due to his injury, he might not even make the team.

I'm with you again mcteems.....and how about those 2 quicks slants he held onto tonite while getting popped....more highlight material from the so-called
second rate talent. Oh yeah, and that great catch and run behind the WR block and up the sideline staying inbounds and fighting for every yard the play allowed, good stuff!:D

I'm not questioning the man's heart or toughness. He just doesn't have the talent, size or speed to be a dangerous return man or a legitimate 3rd WR. He's a great guy to have on your football team, and while my "CUT HIM TOMORROW!!!" post right after his fumble was kneejerk, I hope we can draft a RB/CB/WR next year that can be a legitimate threat on returns, something we haven't had in Miami since Fulton Walker played for us.

I still think he is a really good PR (very average KR) and he obviously has good enough ability to play in Nick Saban's offense as the #3 guy two years in a row. IMO Vick, Gibson, and Russell are good talent, but at this point Welker is better than them. Hagan and Vick are rookies, they'll blossom, but Welker has bonifide NFL experience, and Culpepper is obviously not afraid to throw him the ball.

What happened to kelly campbell???????:shakeno:

Campbell is still on the roster, but being injured won't help him stay there. My opinion
