Caddy to TB.. The Cadillac and H2 are playing in Florida!

I personally do not like the pick. Just my opinion.

I liked Cadillac ALOT more than Brown. Cadillac can catch too you know.

Seems as though Saban was going for the more powerful guy but doesnt make sense to me because Cadillac is a punishing RB, being called "the toughest RB pound for pound in the draft" at 217 pounds. He also has the feet of a damn ballerina.

Maybe injury concerns was the reason for Brown over Cadillac??

That would have to be the case because when it goes down to being the better football player on the field, CADILLAC is the guy.

In My Opinion.

That may end up being true, but I am satisfied with the pick.. I think the main thing that Saban liked is Ronnies VERSATILITY.. With this offense, it will probably be more pass oriented. Ronnie fits in better with that.

I would have been happy with either but I like Ronnie better.Good size ,speed versatility and a good character.

the bad thing with "the toughest RB pound for pound in the draft" at 217lbs pounds. is you are still 217 lbs and when you get smacked in the mouth by a 300lb DLine man you go backwards.

I think this was a solid pick and all you naysayers need to just wait and see.

We share the same city and the same opinion. I didn't think it was remotely close between Caddy and Brown. And I still don't. My opinions are tested every day in the sportsbooks and hold up pretty well. Saban knows much more about personnel, obviously, but I think he chunked this one. I'm glad we'll get a direct comparison, since Caddy went to the closest team in terms of geography and weather, and also on grass.

I've said since last year that Ronnie Brown would be the better pro runner. He doesn't have the durability issues that Cadillac has, and he won't struggle in between the tackles like Cadillac will.

You also cannot overlook all the peripheral ability that Ronnie Brown brings to the table. He's the best receiver, runner, and blocker combined that has been drafted since LaDainian Tomlinson.

Completely agree. Also, one thing that matters aside from talent: Ronnie is a Saban player (or what I view as a Saban player). He's humble, productive, and a team-player. He'll block when he has to, and run when he has to.

He's a guy that on 3rd and 7 can run for 7, run a swing for 7, or deliver that crushing block to save AJ on his connection to McMichael.

You can't underestimate the value of a smart RB that can do everything. Ronnie Brown is the complete package. Sure, it's nice to have a flashy home-run threat, but it's also nice to have a workhorse who can stay in on every down and be the complete WR.

Those are a flurry of opinions. Opinions alone. Mine are different. As a Dolphin fan I'll root for yours but be surprised as heck if they hold up. Caddy will be the better player.

217 pounds for a RB is good size. Cadillac plays ALOT bigger than he really is as well, to go with his change of direction skills, excellent balance, AMAZING vision. With his quickness, he steps away from alot of big hits.

I'm very disappointed Saban did not go with Carnell.

Isn't Tomlinson under 220 lbs.??

You may end up being right, after all it's hard to coach vision, and Caddy excels in that area. He will be a great back.
But Ronnie is an excellent receiver and blocker, and is really fast (at least in a straight line). It's an instant mismatch if he lines up against a linebacker in the slot. I think the comparisions to Marshall Faulk have been right on.
I can't wait to see him and Lamar Gordon in the backfield. If the O-line improves, we could be seeing some great things soon.

They'll meet up August 27th in Miami, then again on October 16th in Tampa. I'll be there. :woot:

This is the first time in years that I've been happy about our first round pick.

I think both of the two Auburn backs will make an impact. I'm just glad we got someone with a high percentage of success, instead of a Wanny "maybe".

I will never doubt you. You had this one pegged from a long time ago. Good call.

Caddy doesn't play at 217 lbs. When he goes through training camp, he will be close to the 203 that he played at while at Auburn. He's also got a narrow base that won't allow him to hold much more weight. He's a great runner, but you have to take into account the skinny legs and hips.
