Well this kills the idea of Carr for me.

I'm not high on Carr either. I think he's had plenty of time to develop into a better QB than he is. His decision making is poor and his mechanics are worse now than when he came out of college. HE has serious happy feet. I know it's easy to say, "Well he has played behind a bad line for his entire career." Fact is, it really doesn't matter. By now, Carr should have shown more flashes of how good he could be. He shows very few flashes of anything.

bingo. i've said this all along. sure his line sucks, but a good percentage of all those sacks he's taken is directly his fault

I don't know what the furor over this guy on this board was all about in the first place.

If you're gonna swoon and drool over some player, shouldn't he at least have some track record of success? Or do folks like him simply because he hasn't had the chance to fail for us yet?

Jake Plummer had one of the worst lines ever during his career at Az, but he still showed enough to warrent another chance at Denver, I don't see the same thing with Carr. In fact now that I think about it, I wish we had entered the plummer bidding.

it's because people feel bad for him and feel the ONLY reason he's sucked is becuase he has a bad line

Similar to the "Chris has only sucked because of the Qb throwing to him" on-liner. Great Wrs can make Average Qbs look like great Qbs.

not that im pulling for mia to get him, but i think some of those problems he has can be fixed with coaching.

if someone like charlie wies had his hands on him, he would be prety good, imo

But why waste 3 years trying to fix this guy? And paying him that money? We can draft a rookie, coach them for three years, and at least they won't be shellshocked and damaged like Carr. The man is damaged Goods.

Yep. That's the problem with a guy that's had his head rocked, you never know if they can shake it.

Look at Kurt Warner; he never was the same after he had his bell rung hard...went from all-world to no-way.

i see your point. im just saying that the guy shouldnt be written off.

i agree that its not worth it for the fins. the fins dont have any QB gurus on the team that could do the job anyway. and you are right, if its going to take a couple years to get his head striaght, the fins are better off just drafting someone who hasnt had his confidence shaken

watching the texans game sunday, the coaches have zero confidence in him. they dont even want him thinking about throwing downfield. its pretty sad when a guy with that kind of arm is given a fiedler game plan

Honestly WBill there were more ppl in the Plummer sucks camp than he can be a solid or GOOD QB camp. I don't recall the majority opinion being expressed as positive when Denver decided to get him. In fact I am pretty sure most ppl had written Plummer off for dead after last season.

I like Carr, I think he has superior talent as long as he has time to throw. I have not watched more than 10 TEXANS games but the ones I have watched Carr has always impressed me with his raw talent. This guy could be GREAT if he had a decent coaching staff around him IMO.

However I do not feel we should throw a mini-Bank at him either. I would be supportive of him being here so long as his contract is not too steep.

This is something I commented about in a past thread. I wondered why some would think he would do great here, after not being able to cut it in Houston. :hmmm: :confused2

To be fair he hasn't completed a pass over 34 yards because he has no time to throw, i saw the sunday night game vs KC and Carr frequently had to get rid of the ball after about 1.5 secs before being drilled, i think the awful line there has made him a bit jumpy and a change of scenery would do him good. Not saying hes neccesarily the right guy for us but watch the guy play don't just go on what pat kirwan says

For the record Oliver, I have always like plummer, esp. since that gutsy playoff game he had for Arizona during their only winning season for the last decade. As for the thinking he was a flop last year at Denver, how could someone think that when the guy has had an 83 or above rating the last three years? I'd take him.

1998...
NFC Wildcard Game: won 20 - 7 at Dallas Cowboys
NFC Divisional Playoff: lost 21 - 41 at Minnesota Vikings
