Wembley ~ Noise Factor!?

I must admit, the South Americans are the most fanatic. I've seen clips from Boca v River Plate derbys and it was carnage.

Would be amazing if we could get that kind of atmospgere in the UK but that will never happen whilst we aren't allowed terracing.

I was lucky enough to go to the Dolphins - 49ers preseason game at Wembley a few years ago - crowd then was noisy and heavily pro-Dolphins, and I expect it to be the same here....

I was at the Wembley game 31st July 88. Crowd seemed 60/40 pro Dolphins on the day.

The noise in soccer stadium it's bigger no doubt, but UK or entire Europe aren't the best in that department, if you really feel the noise, you must come to Southamerica to se clasics between Boca Jrs-River Plate or Colo Colo-U. de Chile; and don't forget the Maracana Stadium at Brasil, it's huge and the passion it's amazing.

Just the entrance of the team into the field makes the crowd crazy with fireworks, noise bombs, lights, lot of paper and much of noise. Seattle it's nothing compare this.

It's great to see a compatriot in FinHeaven. I thought i was the only Chilean in the forums. :)

I was in Chile 2 years ago to see U.Chile-Catolica in the finals. I am a "U" fan and let me tell you we were all going crazy, the atmosphere was incredible. Too bad they lost in penalty kicks but i had a great time otherwise.

Those pics are great. Looks like a lot of fun.

I'd say the World Cup is my 4th favorite sporting event. It goes in this order, Dolphins' games, Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, Final Four. Good futbol (soccer) is awesome! It isn't called the beautiful game for nothing.

Dude, the game is sleep inducing.....0-0 ties are common....I wanna see some scoring. Why do I wanna watch some guys in shorts run around and kick a ball for NOTHING. It's like watching grass grow

Haha. This thread has made me chuckle.

I'm a season ticket holder at Queens Park Rangers (www.qpr.co.uk), whose home ground is only just outside walking distance to Wembley stadium. I'm a huge NFL fan and a bigger fins fan and cannot either believe my luck that Miami are coming to Wembley or wait for the game itself.

The funny thing is during the NFL season, I seem to spend half my time telling QPR fans that American Football is great and the other half telling Miami fans that 'soccer' is great.

I love American Football, really I do, but as a spectator sport, it gets no better than 'soccer' I'm going to Wembley this Friday to see England vs Brazil, the first England game at the new stadium, it will be ELECTRIC.

I'm sure too that it will be an amazing atmosphere for the Fins Giants game but it will be very different to what I'm used to and to what a typical Miami fan is used to.
Nice England vs Brazil... too bad England will probably get spanked ;). Anyways there really is no comparison between the NFL and soccer. Period.

indeed , but this post was about noise factor and crowd noise at wembley, im thinkin it will be very much a home game for the fins!!

soccer vs Gridiron..... no comp in my eyes. Dolphin Football always wins!

The fixture list is announced in a couple of weeks for next season.

As for who to watch, Arsenal have a really nice, brand new ground but the atmosphere there is pretty poor. Tickets to watch Chelsea are expensive and Chelsea are boring to watch. My advice would be to try and get tickets to see Tottenham, they are a good team to watch and the atmosphere at White Hart Lane is normally pretty good. If not take a trip to Manchester and watch United. Though book well in advance as their games are always sold out.

All good choices, but since he's an American I assume,he might want to go see Fulham and their 3 Yanks play....

Going to watch Fulham play would put him off footy for life.

:sidelol: :sidelol: :sidelol:

Indeed it would! I do like Clint Dempsey though, that boy can play.

Going back to which soccer game to visit. Sure, and big Liverpool game, ie. Any Champions League match, or Chelsea or Man Utd at Anfield would be amazing. However, I think to appreciate the true English spirit in terms of atmosphere, a better match to go to would be at a smaller, compact, less commercially driven ground. Having seen Chelsea and Man Utd on numerous occasions, the atmosphere at those grounds, though impressive just doesn't compare to the individualistic atmosphere you get at some of the more traditional grounds. Watching QPR away at Molineux against Wolves was one of the most hostile and over powering atmospheres I've ever experienced. It makes the minority fight for respect in terms of songs and noise which, in turn leads to an amazing atmosphere. Sheffield Utd are always pretty good too.

The Old Traffords, Millenium Stadiums and Wembleys of this sport provides what I would class as a more 'American' atmosphere, with big build ups providing bursts of very loud noise. Hopefully, therefore, the Dolphins will feel right at home.

"When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother, "What should I be?"
Should I be Dolphins, Should I be Jets,
And here's what she said to me:

Wash your mouth out son,
And fetch your father's gun,
And shoot the New York scum,
And support the Fins."

Soccer is far more intense because you are singing songs the whole time rather than just making general noise. It comes across a lot louder too, because everyone is singing the same song at the same time. I'm kinda hoping that we can impart some of that soccer atmosphere onto this game.
Oh, and it's more fun, because soccer fans are very witty, and come up with some very very funny songs.

"Cam-Cam's Aqua Army!"
