Were any so called "experts" against Pat White?

If so, then what do they hae to say about Tannehill. I remember a lot of "experts" blowing smoke up our arse about that ridiculous pick. Is there anyone who can be trusted about hese kind of things or are they all just making it up as they go?
 
I didn't like the White pick, thought it was a waiste of a high pick....however the differences between White and T-hill are night and day. Those differences don't guarantee anything, but T-hill won't get lost in the centers a$$ crack for starters.
 
I was against the Pat White pick and got flamed for it though the summer after he was picked. My OP was sent to the bottom of the sea. He sucked in training camp all the way through until he was cut.
Watching him get get blown up against Pittsburgh on that sideline play was the clincher. The guy is too small for the NFL game.
He was a great college player, but a terrible pro.
As for the "experts", they are wrong more than right. They pay no penalty or apologize.
I am sure Pat White was thought highly as a project by a few, based upon his college accomplishments, but I would be surprised if any of the major scouts thought much of him.
Sparano/Ireland/Cryptkeeper saw PW as a specialty player in the Wildcat. Instead of drafting a legit starter, they got sidetracked on a gimmick and wasted the pick on the wrong player.

RGIII and Luck are basically off the board so the only QB that they can hype is Tannehill. He is a second round talent in any other year.
 
Th ewhole white thing is a parcells sparano wildcat fiasco. you should be pick starters in the first 3 rounds. backups in the later rounds. they already had henne as their starter and that was not that great a pick. They pick Ginn instead of trading down for a top QB like they should have.
 
Up until they signed Baby Haysoos, I was actually thinking the Jetranos might well give some serious thought to giving Patty another shot at resurrecting his career... but didn't think the blowback would warrant throwing that possibility out there.: idk:

I remember that thread and the vast majority of flames had to do with the idea that a 2nd round pick would be cut during the preseason, which was ridiculous. Even those of us that thought he was drafted way too high thought it was ridiculous.
 
I didn't like the fact that we took a QB in the 2nd round after we had just done that but don;t watch enough college ball to say I didn't like White(never saw him play). I was kind of excited though because I remember watching a special on ESPN about West Virginia college football and the hosts all agreed that Pat White was the best college football player in WV history which included all colleges in WV. I never checked to see if maybe his family members were running the show though lol.

He should been cut in preseason. The staff was unwilling to admit that they made a mistake. At the time, we had many holes to fill, and PW was taking a valuable roster spot. The staff should have cut their losses. He was not only a bad pick, but he was performing badly in camp.
The topic was sound, the responses were ridiculous IMO.
 
Let's hope we can do something with our 2nd round pick this year.
And not go mmmm i didnt want him...........

:lol: Alright. Everybody else was ridiculous for knowing a 2nd round pick wouldn't be cut in the preseason, particularly by an egomaniac like Parcells. And everybody else was right.
 
My memory of the Pat White era is that most people on Finheaven thought that he was a waste of a pick and that he would not make it as a QB in the NFL. There were of course some voices here that thought that the guy had potential and defended him up until (and after) he was released. I am not sure though of the validity of comparing White with Tannehill. Even on a physical level, Tannehill looks like a adult whereas White looked like a teenager compared to the average NFL QB. Tannehill, on paper, looks like he could have a nice NFL career if given time to develop.

I hated even the idea of drafting him and I was freaking stunned when we did. I did not even have him on my board in any round. To make things even worse, the Patriots draft Kent State QB Julian Edelman in the 6th or 7th round and not only does he have the balls to play WR and return kicks, he even play defensive back last season.

One thing I look at for QBs and all skill players is HAND SIZE and Patty White has small hands. So he was short, small and had small hands. In what world does that make a QB or someone that can play the option in the NFL? This is the pick that showed me that Bill Parcells had lost any football sense he once had.

And then there were people that compared him to Tim Tebow. Tebow could throw Patty White 20 yards.
 
The comparision with the two is, both are reaches. Tannehill isn't TOP 10 value, period.
