We're talking to Long, Wake and hartline about their contracts.

Wake should be the one that will want to sign now. His worth is very high and he cant afford to get hurt making 615k this year. He may even hold out if we cant come to terms.

Thats why phins are visiting with coples and need a pass rusher bad in this draft.

Better lock up both long and wake... Hartline will come at a nice discount right now. If we wait and he excels it might cost us a little more, but clearly long is the prize and please dont mess around with him.

Hartline is garbage? He's shown to be pretty important in our passing game. He and Bess are by far our best route runners and he's the best deep threat on the team. Then again you're probably the guy who thinks SPEED = INSTANT DEEP THREAT so Im wasting my time

I agree, some people are just a bit shortsighted on how good a player could become in different offenses, with a better QB. Hartline was the best receiver we had taking passes deep or getting huge chunks of yardage after the catch.

jake long will be gone next year anyways.

you think he isnt going to test free agency? his stock cant get any higher than right now.

if he has another injury filled season, that could change the whole thing. i am sure the office knows he is more than likely gone and may not want to pay him what he is going to ask and probably get on the market. the scheme is changing in miami and lugging behemoths are not a must, expecially ones with lingering med issues.

and this is why we will take one of the versitile, top tackles in the draft with pic #1. a couple of them can play right or left and it will be one of those, not only for need at rt this year but to slide over and take jakes spot after he bolts to f/a.

i imagine this move is not for extensions but for signing this years draft pics. at least with jake long anyways.

anyone who thinks Hartlines garbage must not have been watching this team play the past few years. Hartline catches tough passes and Brandon Marshall drops easy ones yet Hartline sucks and Marshalls a top 5 wr? [Removed by Mod.]

i agree with you and the others who think Hartline will excel in the WCO. Hartline is obviously not a #1 receiver who is going to demand double coverages but the guys runs good routes and has good hands. He doesnt have excellent speed but he gets seperation and finds himself downfield frequently. Idk how anyone could say Hartline sucks. If youve watched this team play the past few years you would know Hartline is a good wide receiver.

We can take one of those quick athletic LTs in the second or third round. I dont see a need to do it in the first this year as this year Long is starting and he could be franchised next year for the same salary he makes now.

Hartline is decent and will suit the WCO better. But the kid has spaghetti for legs. Goes down way to easy.

While he does go down seemingly right after a lot of his catches, I think it has a lot to do with the type of catches he makes. He's often doing some off-balance stuff just to make the play. Moore and Henne's accuracy on anything outside of 10-15 yards was terrible.

I hope you're right. IMO, he has more YAC trouble than a Mongolian farmer.

Capologist help...We got Soliai signed but it left us with 5 million
for the Rookies and not much more. How will we sign Long for somewhere
close to his current salary then add Wake's salary which will be huge then
add Bush Into the mix because next year is his last as is Sean Smith,Brandon Fields,Fasano,
Devlin,Moore,Garrard,Murtha,Hicks,Garner,Culver,Merling,Clemons,McDaniel

Could be an incredible turnover after this season

However, her is the BIGGEST Question:

"Simply, how is it that a team without any foundational superstar, without a franchise quarterback, without any history for making the playoffs or even reaching .500 the past three years could be so spent against the cap?"

god only knows why we feel the need to talk contract extension at this juncture with brian hartline...with garrard and moore under center none of these wrs are gonna make enough noise in 2012 where they'll price themselves out of miami...guess we're looking for a really cheap contract but giving brian hartline guaranteed money at this stage is just dumb...

none of those are a big deal...we get wake and long done and we'll be fine...

We could just about get Soliai signed with the money we had
and now to come up with potentially another 100 million dollars between
Wake and Long as well as all three QBs on the roster have contracts that end after this upcoming season ...Don't think it's going to be so easy my friend

what 3 qbs you worried about??? garrards corpse matt moore and devlin??? only one who has a shot in hell of getting even $6 mil per year in 2013 is moore and thats if he proves he's a solid starter...and ireland sure doesn't seem like he believes that to be the case now or going forward thus we've swam oceans looking for a replacement...qb is not a worry contract wise at all...now talent at the position...worry yourself sick...cause unless devlins a gem there isn't anything on this roster right now worth investing our future in...
