I have been a big wes fan, but looking at our offseason this year he may have trouble winning a roster spot. Usually a team keeps 5 wr's, we have: chambers, booker, campbell, hagan, then we have vick and our 7th round pick(forget his name)? Vick and campbell return punts and kickoffs I believe. Looking at our roster I truely believe wes welker has a good chance of being cut in late agust early september... thoughts?

vick hasnt return a kickoff or a punt in the nfl ,if somebody is not going to make the team is him.

shoe ins are chambers, booker, campbell, and hagan. aroshmado will end up on practice squad as most 7th round picks do. and marcus vick is the big question mark if he makes this team as a seneca wallace/randle el type player who will be slated as 3rd/4th qb and the 4th or 5th wr. i can see vick being put on practice squad as well and welker being that 5th receiver.

I hope Wes doesn't read this site with all the bashing he is getting lately.

Vick is not a solid WR, I doubt he sees any PT and everyone passed on him multiple times in the draft. We can stick him on the PS and develope him. Same goes for Devin A. I know Campbell has done return duties, but hasn't done anything like that since High School if he even did it then.

Campbell I think has the bigger chance of gettting cut. Depending on what our new WRs can do. Rarely do Rookie WRs come out and take over in the NFL. Hagan will make the final roster because of his high draft pick, and he looks promising to me hopefully he contributes as well.

I don't know, what you guys posted is certainly possible. I just have a feeling saban isn't very impressed with welker and that he he may go with someone that is younger and have more physical talent.

The Shoe in's are:
Chambers
Hagan

Possible cuts are:
Booker (all salary no dead cap...i doubt it will happen)

On the Bubble: Welker, Gibson, Aromashadu, Campbell, Davis, Murphy, vick...

Wes was the ST's captain, and a good leader.... With the better depth we have this year it also means better players will be on the field for ST's....

Wes Welker will be fine. I believe he has proven he can make plays & be effective in some aspect of the game. Plus....when are kicker goes down we got Wes to do kickoffs, field goals, & extra points.....so chill out with that!!!!!

I almost got me a Wes Welker jersey last year!!!!!!!

Kelly Campbell returned kickoffs in college and in Minnesota.

another train of thought is that Booker may be traded. That would leave Chambers, Hagan, Campbell, Welker and the winner of the 5th WR battle: Gibson, Aromashadu, Murphy, Vick.

A lot will depend on if Saban wants more size in his WR corps, such as with Gibson, speed with Campbell and Murphy, leadership with Welker. No matter how you look at it, our WR battle this off-season is really looking good and we will keep the best 5 in Saban's eyes, not necessarily our eyes.

Marty lead the NFL last year in avg. yards per catch and Saban pointed that out when he said we aren't looking for a starting WR we are looking for someone to complement Marty and Chris. I really don't see Marty going unless we can't reach a new contract by the end of next year or next offseason becaus enext year is when he counts 7mill against our cap.

Zero chance that Welker doesn't make the team, don't even think about it because it's a silly notion.

Saban not impressed with Welker? LOL! Saban has stated before how much he loves Welker, he's just the type of player Saban enjoys coaching.

I can't remember wes dropping many balls. He has contributed in more than one aspect. He even kicks. He's not going anywhere in my opinion. I'm going to buy his jersey. I like the little underdog white guy. He just doesn't seem to meet the normal mold.
