Wes is emerging as one of our premeir receiver's..........he's dangerous in the slot and catches just about anything thrown his way.

Stokely's not having a good year, but I see what you're saying.

Welker

Very reliable possession reciever that has big play potential and is under utilized.

Very quick off the ball with good acceleration out of his cuts. Runs precise routes and seems to get open frequently.

Very good hands, plays bigger than stature.

Creates matchup problems for 5th db on opposing teams.

Can't understand why he isn't bigger part of game plan.

Ditto for McMichael

I've been watching the guy for a while now and I do see the Stokley references, but honestly I believe he is more Hines Ward than Brandon Stokley and I want to see the guy way more involved when the game is NOT already decided.

He does EVERYTHING right. And I mean everything. I can never find when the guy does something and you say, hey he shouldn't have done that. And tons of times he does something and you're like, wow, I'm really glad he did that. He's got more presence of mind than probably any player on the offense, with only Zach Thomas rivaling him as far as presence of mind among the entire team period.

That is Hines Ward's game. Presence of mind. Do all the right things. Run inside when you need to, step out of bounds when you need to. Block well. That cut block that Welker got fined for? The guy he blocked actually got up and said right to him "Good block"

Honestly, I believe we've been taking for granted that Wes will never become a premier WR in the NFL...but at this point, we really should not take that for granted anymore. Nor should we take it for granted that he's "just" a slot WR and a kick returner. Not only has the guy bested David Boston for the 3rd WR role, he's banging on the door of besting Marty Booker as our 2nd most valuable receiver. Actually, he's battling Randy McMichael for playing time right now because there's only so many times you can go 3-WR with 1-TE, and as good as Randy is, Wes is giving him a serious run!

Soon, I have to wonder if he'll start giving Chris Chambers a run. Whenever a guy keeps stepping up to whatever challenge you put to him, no matter how difficult, he establishes a career pattern. This could be his career pattern, and it could see him becoming our most valuable offensive weapon and THAT is incredible.

I think Stokley is bigger, and probably a little bit faster than Wes Welker. I like the Hines Ward comparison because Hines is one of those utility guys that does everything you ever ask him to do well, not necessarily the greatest at any one of them, but does everything well.

Welker is helped by the fact he is so short. Because it seems every ball ferrote throws to him as an inch or two above the ground.

I will agree with the argument that Welker is one of the headiest players on the team. It was evident to me last year when he made the spectacular play to keep a foot out of bounds while catching a kickoff to force a penalty. He repeated that exact play this year, which shows me it's not a fluke. A rookie doing that sort of thing has to stand out to you.

As demonstrated by the game last year where he had an extra point, field goal, punt return, kick return... heck maybe even a few punts :) He has shown that he will give his all to any task you ask of him. I just don't see how you can not like him... in fact he's been one of my favorite players since last year.

It also helps that I started him this past week as my bye week receiver and he pretty much won me my game

Why is he being compared to all the other White WR's out there? Some analyst compared him to Tim Dwight a few weeks back...

Welker is Welker - They guy is in a league of his own... The guy Kicks, Returns, and can play WR pretty damn good.
