This guy is the heart and soul of this team. If every 1 played as hard as he did this team would be different. HE does whatever is asked of him and right now i think he is also our best wr.

He's not our best receiver; stop saying that. Welker gets the ball far more because of a) who is covering him and b) our offensive line sucks so our QB is forced to check down before Chambers/Booker can run their routes.

Wes Welker is not our best WR, but I do like the thought of him being team MVP so far, because he does everything well!!! He is an important part of our team. He is always getting us great field position on returns and we need to do something with it!

Wes Welker gives EVERYTHING he's got everytime he's on the field. Thank god we have him.

There's a statement I can agree with.

I'm just tired of the "best WR" garbage. People on here take things too far.

how is it that after not even half of a season everyone seems to know that 'welker is the best wr on the team' and that 'daunte was a waste and we should of had brees' and 'saban is making bad decisions he should have stayed coaching college' ahahahaha

Like it or not he has been our MVP.

I never said he wasn't the MVP.. I merely stated he's not our best WR, which is factual. He is our MVP right now, which is sad to say. I mean, it doesn't really matter though; at 1-4, the achievement "MVP" becomes irrelevent. This guy has all the heart in the world, but there isn't a single player in this ORGANIZATION who deserves credit right now. I'm sorry. It's an embarrassment.

What is your definition of best? Mine is based on production. He has more yards than CC, and more receptions than CC. Is he as talented as CC? No. Has he been better this year, yes he has.

Yes, CC has been double teamed, however don't forget Wes is handling punts and kickoffs, which is also something of a handicap.

Tell me why you think this is sad.

It's sad because Chambers is one of (or should be) the premier talents in the NFL. It's sad because of our offensive line, he doesn't have the time to run his routes, thus Wes gets a lot of the check down throws. Wes is about as good as it gets as a slot receiver and I've thought that for a while.

Because he's not an MVP caliber player.

It's sad that on a team filled with Pro Bowl caliber guys like Culpepper, Brown, Chambers, Zach, Jason Taylor, etc... our "team MVP" is Wes Welker. No disrespect to him, but it sends a message of how many underachievers we have this year.

But props to JT, he's the defensive MVP so far with 4 sacks.

JT is the man, no doubt. Hey, who is to say Wes isn't a Pro Bowl caliber guy? Basically this comes down to you thinking he doesn't look the part, and that is understandable. Who knows what Wes can do now that he is given the chance. If Booker is done for an extended period of time, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Wes exploded not just on our scene, but on the NFL scene.

I don't think he'd be nearly as good with starting CB's covering him along with the attention of a safety or two, which is what Chambers goes through constantly, and Booker used to..

Don't get me wrong though - I've learned a lot about Wes Welker this year. I was pretty iffy on him before, but you learn a lot about certain players when the team sucks. I'd put his heart for the game next to or over any player on this team, and right up there with the rest of the league. Can't really root against the guy, he's got heart and he's a fighter. I respect the hell out've him as a competitor, as much or more than any other player on the team.
