Who would agree that it could be quite feasible that Wes Welker could indeed be our greatest weapon? Or at least our greatest overlooked weapon?
By the looks of our offense, I think we may be in a lot of games that could be a war of attrition. Good defense, and primarily a running game would make the average starting field position crucial. Wes seems to be a very important part of establishing ourselves with the optimum in field position.

And he seems primed to contribute as the third receiver. I, for one am anticipating that Wes will be the biggest unknown (from a large-scale perspective) and disrected contributor to our success coming into the year and will exit with everyone's respect! I just love underdogs! And this guys my pick as the surprise MVP of the team. What'dya think?

One thing many people forget is yardage... in fantasy football some leagues award points for return yardage. Welker had more yardage than all the WRs and RBs. (in the case of RBs, he had more yardage than all the RB's combined!)

Welker's yardage last year: 1879

Welker actually scored more fantasy points than Chambers and McMike did last year... interesting point to note.

Welker is always available on the waiver wire too.... great pickup as a fill-in for weeks when one of your main guys is on a bye. I hope they use him as a slot guy this year - more fantasy points!

i realize your post wasn't regarding fantasy football... but no one had ever mentioned how well he did in fantasy scoring - few realized how many yards he actually had. point of interest.

So...Welker does just about everything--catches the ball, returns kicks, kicks FGs. Can he play QB?

He might have my vote.

If Welker was truely as good as everyone here makes him out to be he would be due for a huge contract. He is a pedestrian WR and an ok return man. He is the 4th string WR.

....who just so happens to be the all-time punt return leader in college football!
And I still think he'll have a greater impact for us then Booker will, who plays ahead of him.

Jason Taylor will be our MVP again, especially with the new system that will let him be all over the field.

Very likely.

Maybe not mvp but he is still good at what he does and thats everything:)
i just wana see him catch some passes this year.

If Welker ends up being the team MVP then that means he will probably end up with alot of big returns, we can use all the yardage we can get, so ill be fine with Welker being team MVP, although id rather see Gus have a career year.....

Depending how they use him...Maybe, but I still think it will be Taylor, Chambers, or maybe one of the rooks.

Maybe you need some glasses. :shakeno:

What about Ronnie for Team MVP? Welker will be a useful tool for us indeed.

I think there is positively, absolutely, no way in h-ell Welker is the MVP. I will be suprised if he gets on to the field for much more than the special teams.

Everyone needs to get over the great white hype and understand that Wes is a gutsy guy like Fiedler, but is not by far one of the more gifted WR on the roster. He is clearly behind Chambers, Booker, and Boston. He will play in a few situations. But MVP?

Reality check.
