Why do you guys like Wes Welker so much? I would like to see someone else as a 3rd receiver. He is not fast, bad vertical leap and i remember him dropping some balls on games.

hahha great answer Dolphdevil
welker seems pretty fast to me, he is a good return man so i would think he has to have some speed

looking at the things campbell has done in games. i think that it is the easy decision to use hagan and campbell as our 3rd and 4th receivers. welker can take up a special teams roster spot. heart is great, but it is not taking him anywhere fast.

His probably the slowest of all Dolphins receivers. A 5'9 receiver, pretty sure the defensive backs are afraid of him. Thats how tall my little brother is and his 14. Duante will have a hard time finding Wes on the field.

 I think we keep Welker to return kicks. He has already shown that hes good at that.I see Hagan as our #3 but we will see.

Funny, I don't remember him dropping a ball. I don't see him as slow either. He also had a lot of YAC.

Guys, seriously, just because a player at a skill position is short and white, doesn't mean they can't be productive.

If it weren't for Wes Welker, we would NOT have upset the Patriots on the Monday Nighter in 2004.

Here is a definition from wikipedia.com of what a slot receiver is:

"A less-formal name given to receivers in addition to split ends and flankers. These receivers line up between the split end / flanker and the linemen. If aligned with a flanker, the slot receiver is usually on the line of scrimmage, and if with a split end, off the line of scrimmage. As with the flanker position, a featured receiver often takes a slot position with a split end to avoid jamming."

Slot receivers don't need to be as fast as they do quick. And they don't need to be tall either. As much as I hate to give props to a Jets player, Wayne Chrebet excelled in the slot and he was neither big nor fast. He was quick.

Welker was actually pretty good last year. However, I do think that Derek Hagan will claim that position this year.

Because if you look at the play by play stats from the games last year a lot of his catches were critical 3rd down catches and had a lot of YAC. Zach Thomas is undersized, do you still like him?

I would prefer a tall receiver to play slot position. Any big and fast receiver is better that a small slow receiver. Welker is no Steve Smith or Santana Moss to play as a NFL receiver. Maybe to return kicks. I think Campell would be better in returning kicks.

I am assuming you don't watch the Dolphins or follow them very closely. Another assumption, you just looked at Wes' height, 40 yard speed and vertical jump. My guess is that you have never seen him play. Plain and simple, he catches the damn ball and gives his all every play. I think he'll get replaced by Hagan or Campbell, but I never want to see Wes leave this team. He is a great spark and a great guy to have on the team.
