Per Kffl, Wesley Britt not on Chargers practice squad. They already claimed 8playes, 2 OL, neither of which is Britt. Either He really sucks, or somebody else(hopefully us) got him on waivers or better yet- Practice sqaud. He's an Olineman projected for the 2nd or 3rd Rnd, but slipped some to the Chargers in the last draft.

dont know much about him, but chargers fans like him. Too bad we didnt grab him he might to turn out to be a surprise for some team

Yeah he's like 6'8 and 315lbs. Was pretty well thought of before he injured his leg. He'd be a good LT project on the PS.

He's got the size and reach, does he have the feet. Houck should decide that one I guess. I like Alabi still as a project.

Shoot if we can get him on the PS for a year and see if he pans out I'd be happy. He certainly has an upside at a postion we need to develop some talent.

Just some info to mull over

ANALYSIS
Positives: Has a very tall frame, with the ability to add at least another 30 pounds of bulk … Has lean muscle development and is light on his feet for a player of his size … Has adequate quickness to gain position and slide … Plays with good awareness and is quick to pick up line games and blitzes … Has the intelligence to pick up plays quickly and is an articulate, intelligent and vocal athlete … Uses his size properly to occupy space and gain position in order to wall off and sustain … Decent drive blocker who has the lateral mobility to gain position coming off the snap … Plays with a wide base and has made improvements in attempts to readjust and mirror vs. the edge rushers … Lacks the ability to sink his hips and stay at a low pad level, but uses his frame to lean-in and grab to push his man off the line and wall off … Decent second level blocker, taking good angles to make the second level cut-off block … When he keeps his leg base wide, he is quick in his kick slide.

Negatives: Has adequate initial quickness, but tends to take false steps and get behind the defender when coming off the snap … Lacks explosion and flexibility to roll his hips and drive defenders off the ball, relying on his size to wall off … While he is a four-year starter on the left side, he does not have the lower body strength or the foot quickness to prevent from being beaten off the edge … This could lead to him moving to the right side in the pros, where he will not have to be isolated vs. the quicker edge rushers … More of a waist bender, rather than a knee bender, causing him to struggle when defenders get outside his frame work … Shows good hand placement, but fails to generate a strong punch, despite his upper body power … When he gets high in his stance, he tends to cross his feet, resulting in him struggling to redirect vs. the edge rush … Needs to do a better job of reloading his hands (drops them and does not throw them), as he keeps them too low, allowing defenders to get into his chest to push him back … Has had durability issues with fractured leg bones the last two years that might warrant further medical evaluation … Needs to take better angles to cut off linebackers when working in the second level … Might not be suited to play guard, as he is a marginal trap blocker who fails to bring his feet and loses balance when on the move … Must work on eliminating the false steps he takes on his deep set.

Vernon Carey to me is still an ideal LT not RT, and Britt to me sounds like he could be good as a RT. I guess the problem is the numbers game. We have 4 tackles, Carey, McIntosh, McDougle, and Alabi. We may not have enough space for him on the roster...

From what I've seen, we can cut McDougle. The other 3 I like.

CK weren't you the one who said Carey was more of a RT than LT which he is...

No, but if you can find the post of mine where I either said that or gave you that impression, I'll explain what I meant.

I've made no secret in my evaluations of Carey that the guy is a premier pass protector with superb technique but as a run blocker he's also a "technique" guy with no real flare for the job.

Later, some other guy who claims he evaluates film said the exact same thing about Carey in a thread I started about Carey's performance against the Bucs (I believe my observation in that game was quite literally "Carey is not as good a RT as he is a LT")

It would take a while for me to find it. However, I still think Carey is a better RT than LT simply because of his body type.

Britt isn't strong enough and lacks the balast to be a right tackle.

Perfect for the P-Squad. Mcdougal is on a one year deal and so far has played poorly. Britt would make a nice guy to give a year to get better. But it looks like Nick and Mueller took a pass on Britt.
