Quinn's stock may have risen after his workout recently, and some "experts" have him being taken by detroit. Think we could squeeze the 2nd and 7th we got from Welker and NE and use them to trade up in position? We really wouldnt be losing any real draft picks, just acquiring a better player.

What do you guys think? Trade up and get Brady Quinn/Calvin Johnson or should we stick with a 2nd and 7th?

I was thinking the same, But it isnt Mueller's style.

from what I read his workout wasn't exactly spectacular. Not good enough to make his stock rise at all. they said some incomplete throws were receiver and some were just bad throws. Some of the completions they did show, the receiver slowed way down to make the catch.

We had better not be trading up for anything. Hopefully we have learned our lesson on trading away picks from the past.

I dont think we are drafting Brady Quinn even if he were there at 9. I think we are drafting levi or Landry or Okoye and we will be trading down moreso than anything IMO.

"quantity over quality" (he was talking draft):bighug:

Uh bro, NFL network said he hit on 58 of 63 passes, that's only 5 inc. not too shabby!!!

Trading up was one of the first things that crossed my mind once I heard about Welker leaving. Think about it, how much would it cost to trade up with either Cleveland or Tampa Bay to take Calvin Johnson assuming he doesn't go number one? I'd imagine it would take our first, one of our second round picks and maybe a low pick. When you consider that the second rounder is essentially Welker, it would essentially be our first and Wes Welker for Calvin Johnson.
I don't know how willing Tampa or Cleveland would be to trade down, but if we could pull a deal off, I think it would be a steal.

calvin johnson is the only player i would trade up for in this draft. hes a freak. I was at the game where he beat miami whe they were ranked number 3. anything thrown his way he would. and he definately had deceptive speed. he didnt look fast but he would still manage to get by all of the miami players (miami is definately not a slow team btw)

It would take this years 1st next years first and at least one of thid years 2nd just to move into the top 5 let alone up to # 2.

I think if we move up it'd be in the middle rounds...we can use that 7 plus a 6 to move into the 5th round if we like somebody there....I doubt we move up from 9 tho but I can see us moving down a few spots and then taking Ginn or Brown there.I think we could get Stanton in the 2nd or Smith in the 3rd or even one of the other guys later on like Kolb.

Ozzy rules!!

Is that going by the dreaded "value chart" or is that just what you think it would take? I don't know what it would cost, but that just seems kind of a lot to give up to move up five or six spots.

Yes we trade up, but not to #2, we should trade up to #3. Give cleveland our #9,#40,&#71, and move up to #3, because Cleveland wants Adrian peterson, and he will be available at #9. especially since Houston just gave Ahman Green a 4 year deal. I think Detroit may take Quinn with the #2 since they just got Foster from the Broncos, if they take Quinn, we should offer the #3 to Tampa, because they want Calvin Johnson, for Tampa's #4 and #68. We do this by throwing a smoke screen about either drafting CJ ourselves, or poster as if Minnesota is trying to strike a deal with us. either way if Tampa doesn't bite, we take the best player in the draft in Johnson, and if the do bite, we take Joe Thomas with the pick.
Now if Detroit takes Joe thomas, the choice is clear, we take Calvin johnson.
Either way it is a win-win situation.
Now with that being said if we sign Stallworth, we don't draft CJ, we would stay put and probably take Laron landry or Levi Brown @ #9, and hopefully Ryan Kalil with #40!!!!!!

uh bro, watched it on tv myself. At least three of the very few highlights they did show, the receiver slowed down to catch the ball. I would hope he hit at least 58 out of 63, they are indoors with no defense on them.

I hope to hell we stay away from stallworth, we don't need a guy who is in the substance abuse program. We aren't cutting guys to bring in guys with problems.

We don't need to trade up for anybody. There will be a difference maker available to us at nine. We need to stay put.

I don't think his workout boosted his stock too much. he will still be the 2nd QB picked and he may still fall to us at 9. I am not so sure he would but I am not sure I would trade up to acquire him. I would rather trade up for a guy like Thomas or Johnson.

I don't think you'll see us trading up in the 1st or 2nd round. Maybe somewhere in the 3 through 7 rounds we may try and move up to take a player we really want but, I'm pretty sure we'll be staying put in the early rounds. We need as many picks as possible with all the guys we're cutting right now. Many, many holes to fill...
