Looking through the drafts through the years, we've had some horrific drafts. We really haven't had a stellar draft in the past 20+ years. The best of that lot was the Marino draft, but even then we only got two very good starters and one marginal.

One thing that really sticks out with the Shula drafts - Between 1982 and 1995, he drafted 25 LB's and got two bonafide, good starters (Offerdahl and Cox) out of it. There were other starters, but they were lousy and became weak links. Don couldn't draft LB's, among other positions :D

None were great, but I've picked out ones that were horrible, imo. Which of these years do you think was the worst? 1984, 1985, 1987, 1995, 2003.

There were other bad drafts but several yielded a couple of decent players - 1988 was one of the worst ever, but it did yield Jeff Cross who was pretty good. I also left off other drafts that were bad, but had at least one solid player come out of them.

The best draft, imo, since the Marino/Clayton draft was in 1997 when we got Madison, JT, and D. Rodgers - all three right in a row. That was JJ's best draft and had Yatil Green not been so injury prone, it would have been a great one. He did draft better than Shula - but a lot of the years he had some really bad picks.

All of the ones done by Spielman and the Stache. Reaches and busts dominated their era. JJ picked some great defensive stars through the draft.

1995, Billy Milner (T) and Andrew Greene (G), made shula last draft look horrible. the best thing from that draft was we were able to trade Milner to the Rams for Troy Drayton (TE)

This is a close one. The expansion year of 66 yielded as 1a Jim Grabowski, and 1b Rick Norton. The only player worth anything was Howard Twilley. Tied for worst would be 1995. Milner and Greene. These are two of the worst drafts in history.

1995 hands down, I couldn't wait for Shula to go at this point. GreenMonster
