I was listening to wfan in nyc today, and naturally they were talking about the Fins/Jests game. One of the hosts, Joe Beningo, who is an avid Jests fan, quipped enthuiastically, " Joe Philbin returning as coach of Miami, Ohhh BAYYBEE!!" "What a joke!". It reminds me of when Shula refused to get rid of Tom Olivadotti, after years of poor defense and wasting the Marino years. Jim Kelly of the Bills was quoted as being happy that Olivadotti was staying! Just goes to show you the perception of Philbin outside of Florida. I think just about everyone can see what a poor coach he is except Steven Ross.

words cannot even describe how much of a douchebag that Joe Beningo is...c'mon bro

I listen to them all the time and they are Jets homers and pretty much diss on everything aqua and orange. Loved Idcik and Rex, now want new, same for new regime I'm sure. That being said, as a long 40 something year Fin fan I too am saddened by Philbins retention, way to cerebral with the game strategy and planning lacking. I want a coach with passion like Pittsburg, Ariz, or even Ravens. Give me some Lovie all day long as well.

Yep, sadly some of us have been beating this drum since last season/offseason. I'm not convinced that Ross is stupid enough to think that Joe is the answer, just that his ****ing E-G-O won't let him make the correct decision. I felt the same way last year when Failbin was retained rather than cleaning the house properly.

I suppose it "could" be worse, we could be saddled with a jackass owner who insists on acting as GM (Dallas), or another owner who hires puppets and still acts as GM behind closed doors (Washington). Not that it matters much.

Honestly, can anyone convince Ross, Philbin, Coyle and a few others to take a three-hour tour in the Bermuda Triangle?

Most of us want.him gone but the dummy in charge doesn't care. He has no clue as to how you win in the NFL so we're stuck in the middle once again.

I'm sure some others already have posted this, but I see this playing out like Sparano's final season. I could see this coming apart very quickly and Philbin getting the axe in season. If RT gets hurt, for instance, what is there to keep this team afloat? It could get really ugly really fast.

The Jets got worse today…much worse…after firing Ryan. This team is worse next year.

See who they hire for GM and coach before I come to a conclusion on that. It's Woody Johnson, which isn't much different than Stephen Ross, so I wouldn't be too optimistic if I was a Jets fan. But, in bringing in a new GM with their new coach, I think that's a step in the right direction.

Does anyone really give much credence to what a NY radio yak thinks about the Dolphins? Why not ask Ohio St radio guy what he thinks of Michigan hiring Harbaugh.

Agreed. Philbin couldn't beat Rex in Miami for some absurd reason. Maybe we can beat the Jets in Miami now.

Who do you NOT want the Jets to hire, Hayden?

Beningo is such a huge douchebag, and classless human being, that one of the benefits of when Miami beats the Jets, is listening to that clown cry and give excuses or throw players/coaches under the bus.

Even though he does have the face for radio, his brain makes it tough to take anything that nitwit has to say seriously.

Well, I guess for the same reason Rex could not beat the Philbin coaches Dolphins in Jersey, maybe this means Miami finally can sweep the Jets.
