Tunsil has been really great what luck was that for him falling to Miami

Xavien Howard the best corner prospect we have had since Vontae Davis (scumbag Philbin traded him)

Drake- Was hurt but man he has been clutch on special teams & has had good runs when played on 3rd down he has a bright future.

Carroo- Has a promising future as well he showed his toughness a couple games ago with his first touchdown

Grant- a really good special team player just needs to work on his hands

+

Trading for Kiko & Maxwell who have both played...Kiko all year & Maxwell these past few weeks has been a stud since his benching he has really improved

replacing OV with Branch ( great cost effective move)

also signing Isa Abdul-Quddus who has been great

found good safety depth in Rambo

Everyone has a different view to this off season.

To me only Tunsil and Howard have made any significant contributions...and Howard missed 8 games.

Drake has gotten some carries in garbage time, I've not seen enough of him in our offense to make any determination of him being any more than another special teams player. He had the one return for a TD after Grant ran for 100 yards, sideline-to-sideline, tiring the Jets special teams unit and then they had to re-kick. He was drafted too high IMO.

Grant is useless. He also has a punt return for a TD but his hands are so bad that if I were the coach I would cut him. They no longer use him for punt returns because they don't trust him...Landry is back there because of the importance of these games. If Grant can't return kicks, and you can't put him in the offense because of his awful hands then he has no use. Too small to cover kicks and punts.

Carroo has 3 receptions on the season? He's played 200 snaps? But you're sold on him already? Not me. Some people around here were sold on Dion Jordan when he slapped the hand of Matt Ryan in the 3rd game of his rookie season. I'm going to have to need a lot more proof.

Maxwell has turned it around. Glad to see it cause he was awful at the beginning of the season. His tackling is still suspect but he has most definitely shut down opposing receivers.

Kiko is our best linebacker but I'm pretty sure if the Dolphins gave me a uniform, right now, with a number in the 50's I'd instantly be the Dolphins 2nd best linebacker. He's instinctive but not consistent. He takes poor angles, gets beat in coverage when playing man-to-man and he's got to be one of the softest hitting linebackers I've ever seen. Would love to upgrade from him but he's the best we got right now.

Branch was not OV's replacement...that was Mario Williams who has been awful and we gave him a $17 million/2 year contract. Williams showed up for 2 games this year and then got replaced by Branch. Branch was a surprise and our front office didn't even know he would play this well in this defense. And truthfully he's tailed off a bit the last two games.

Our safeties without Reshad Jones are very mediocre. Rambo decent in coverage, horrible in run support. As a matter of fact I'm not sure I remember him making a tackle yet near the line of scrimmage. IAQ, has been very inconsistent, not just game-to-game but series-to-series.

Sorry that I don't wear the aqua colored glasses but I see the limitations, as I always have which made me want to get rid of Jeff Ireland even more, and realize we need to improve personnel in a lot of areas. It just shows how amazing the job Adam Gase has done this year.

Yes definitely one of the more promising off seasons. As long as Alonso, Maxwell, Tunsil, and Howard pan out you really can't complain. The development of Drake, Caroo, and Grant will round out the overall success of this draft class.

Only major flop was Mario Williams, but it was worth a shot. Branch should be a long-term contributor is we can keep him.

The best offseason move we made was bringing in Adam Gase to be our head coach. For that, I give this offseason an A+.

Tunsil was a great pick... All agree

Howard, though missing 7 games, he is the REAL DEAL! I dare say that he may be the next Revis Island. That Good!!! Brandon Marshall had no answer for Howard. That is coming in from missing 7 games. Yea, hes for real.

Drake, though hamstring injury derailed him early, he did win a game for us and the sky is the limit for this big/fast/young player.

Carroo, limited playing time due to our outstanding WR core. However; when Parker went down w back injury there was Carroo, breaking 2 tackles for his first TD. He is a TE in a WR body. Future looks bright for this kid also.

Grant has fallen off a bit, but he has had 2 TD returns (one called back) on special teams. He does give us that game changing element when he is back for kickoffs/punts. Something we haven't had for yeeaarrs!

Branch was a great cost efficient move with similar production. A+ on that move for 2016.

Kiko and Maxwell have been HUGE for this team. Maxwell got snubbed for the pro bowl, he darn sure should have made it. Another A+ move.

Any team that loses a safety such as Jones would become mediocre. Rambo was picked up mid season, Isa has been real good, even though he has switched to and from FS/SS due to Jones' injury. Much more than we could expect once Jones went down.

As far as rookies go, Tunsil and Howard may be future All-Pro. That, by itself, is a good draft. Drake, Carroo, are yet-to-be-determined. Not uncommon for rookies, but I can make no definitive statements. Grant? Good KO guy. COULD be a good PR if he can get better hands. I'd still like to see him a couple of times lined up wide. With all that, undetermined. KA/Maxwell/Branch/Bushrod have worked out well. A lot of talent found in IQ, Rambo, Pitts, D Jones. May not be starters but could be good backups/ST. And that doesn't include Darr, Lippett, Aikens, Hull, Thomas and a few others on ST. By NFL standards a pretty good accumulation of talent in one off-season.

That right there is a massive contradiction.

You don't think that Maxwell, Alonso and Branch have made big contributions? Cmon.

Drake and Caroo were dissapointing for me on draft day. Although they have shown flashes, jury is still out. I like Carroo, but as well all agree, I hated the trade not the player. I think Kenneth Dixion is alot better then Drake. He was there in the 3rd, not sure why he didn't take him.

Tunsil is a beast and solves a current issue (guard) and future need (LT). I really think character conscience Philbin would of been against this pick (although not sure it would of mattered)
Howard's health concerns me, but he's been great when he's been healthy.
Grant was a 5th rd pick. He has the potential to make an impact on special teams, a big one, but you have to correct those hands. Either way if he doesn't pan out, it happens with 5th rounders.

The signings..
Branch...good
ISA....loved it at the time and he's been very good IMO
Rambo has brought in off the street. For what he's given us, he's been a WIN.
Steen/Urbik have provided better depth then what we had.
Mario Williams, BUST. The contract was structured so it was essentially a 1 yr deal though. He won't be back.
Trades: The Kiko and Max trade was going to be a push no matter what because we got the guy at 14 we would of taken without this trade. Kiko has arguably been our 3rd of 4th best player on D this year. His ability to force and recover fumbles is something we haven't seen at the LB position in a while.
Maxwell was trash early but has developed into a top 20 corner in this league after getting adjusted to the system.

I'd give the draft a B- (Hit high, jury still out on a guy like Carooo, not a lot of depth though to it and traded a few comp picks)
FA's a B+. We didn't make any splash signings but I'd consider every signing we made a WIN other then Mario who won't hurt our cap going forward.
May have found two important future pieces in Branch and ISQ. The decision not to bring in another vet corner has worked out tremendously because it has allowed
Lip to develop. Sometimes its the moves you DON'T MAKE (ellerbee and wheeler come to mind)

Trades: You have to give this an A. We got two starters making positive contributions for essentially nothing. I know I know....it could of bit us in the a$$ have Tunsil been taken a pick before us, but it didn't.

I'm still not a Tannebaum guy, but the Off-season as a whole is probably a Solid B-B+. He HAS to draft better though. Tunsil was a gift, Howard was a solid pick, but other then that there hasn't been much. Like I said before, I do like Carroo, but the trade didn't make alot of sense.

so because howard missed 8 games he's not a good pick? a 2nd round rookie who's played like a vet when he's on the field...unless you're being shortsighted and only judging via contributions this year (dumb, imo) then howard is a good pick and has a great future moving forward...including helping us in these last critical games/potential playoff run...

grant is a question mark but u don't cut him his rookie year because he doesn't trust his hands yet....it takes some kids time to get comfortable fielding punts...he'll be back there in the future, and you'll see him take plenty more into the end zone if he can improve his comfort fielding them....caroo is meh, drake is meh..,.

I see it a lot closer to this than the OP. Time will tell on Drake and some of the others when it comes to the draft. As far as free agency, we got Branch. We got an OT playing RG that has been average and could be playing his last year. Alonso has been good thought not really great. Maxwell has played better the last few weeks. We need a very strong off season in which once again we'll be looking for help at guard, TE, DE, LB and slot corner and possibly a center too

Ozzy rules!!

As for center, Adam Beasley; "Gase: "I want to be around Mike [Pouncey] as long as he can possibly go." He's here for the long haul, friends. With some draftees, it seems easy - Howard, Tunsil. With others (e.g, Drake, Carroo) the best anyone can say is "time will tell." Some seem to confuse "All-Pro" with "good pick." Branch/IAQ/Bushrod were good signings. Not All-Pro, but good signings - a good grade for the FO. Some like to discount Tunsil as luck. Well, his falling to Miami WAS luck, but selecting him wasn't. Miami could have done like 12 other teams and passed. Overall, I'm happy with the off-season. The same success next year will get Miami to the play-offs and, I hope, beyond game 1.

Clearly people read into what I wrote what they want. To each their own.

I must have missed the part where I said Howard was a bad pick because he missed 8 games...smh.

Obviously if your not shaking your pom-poms about every move the Dolphins make then you don't know jack. Some of you kept saying Ireland was the GM of the Dolphins and he knew better than all of us....yeah...not so much.
